Spaghetti and waffles...............

I take it the pawn shop didn't have any collector watches you might like?
Really nice gun you found for passing time at the range. Don't need a watch at the range anyway. You leave whenever you run out of ammo.

The Black grips really change the look of the BDA. My brother got his in the early 90's, He started briefcase carrying it instead of his High Power!

"You are aware there are places and tasks where a cellphone isn't possible or optimal right?"

"Where I work one of the most broken rules is no phone while on the clock, another being that we aren't supposed to have pocket knives."

I worked security where one was not supposed to have a cell phone. However, there was several times when the post phone was down and I had to use my own phone. The supervisors were aware all of the officers had phones. The big thing was not to get caught using one. Knives were also prohibited, but every one carried one, except me. I carried a folding letter opener in my pocket. :D

I'm glad I'm retired now. I used to tell folks that "Mickey Mouse wears a (fill in the name of your employer) watch.

I have a wrist watch on me for as long as I can remember.
The Citizen that gets updated by WWV every night most of the time.
The Rolex I haven't worn in years, not accurate and cost of having it serviced is to high.
As far as a .380, I'll stick with my PPK's....... :)

I'm pretty sure that all my watches are gone. I stopped answering watches after I bought a cell phone. I had bad luck with all watches quickly breaking down and was happy to trade them in. I agree, almost any gun - even a 380 - would be better than most watches. I know many like their watches, but they are not practical for me.

Here is an amusing story told to me by one of my good friends. Back in the '60's my good friend was in the Navy and purchased the new world marvel, a Bulova Accutron wrist watch and added a Spidel "Twist-O-Flex" (us older ones will know what this is) watch band. Buddy said he paid a whole months pay for the watch/band and was so proud of it as it was the only nice thing he had ever owned.
Buddy is left handed but wears watch on left wrist. One day he is at tail of the ship eating an apple. Finished the apple and throws the core overboard. He said he can still remember the arc of the apple core as it flew through the air.......with his new Accutron watch right behind it.

Apple Watch with GPS and cellular. Problem solved. . .

My current job prohibits me from having my cellphone on my person while working, yet requires me to be certain places, on the hour every hour. I suppose I could just guess, but a Dodo on the wrist seems helpful.

During my career in law enforcement I found a watch to be a necessity, as it was an aid in tasks such as timing field sobriety tests while keeping both hands free, which a cellphone would not have allowed.

You are aware there are places and tasks where a cellphone isn't possible or optimal right?

There's also the fact that watches are another hobby.

Interesting how a gun thread has turned into a watch discussion.

I know it's thread drift, but all this talk about watches reminds me of what my Drill Sergeant used to shout out when making announcements:

"Chow at 17 hundred, that's 5 o'clock for you reservists, and the big hand on the 12 and little hand on the 5 for you National Guardsmen..."

Back on track-
Browning BDA was a beautiful iteration of the Beretta.
A Bersa 383 (Steel frame) I fell into years ago scratches my itch. I also have the newer alloy frame, but no picture.

Try those amatuer antics while working for the feds, like I do since I retired last December. You'll be looking for a new job PDQ.

Maybe I should start a thread about watches, then maybe someone would want to talk about guns. :)

My old watch (1905 Waltham side winder) and old duty revolver (S&W Model 65-1).

It's time you guys stop messing with him about watches. As long as their is blued-steel...there will be watches. The only thing I use the time on my cell phone for is setting and checking my watches.

Darn nice Beretta!
