No coyotes, no snakes...
Today I was out to get some coyotes and snakes. It's a very nice day, 82 degree, almost no wind.
Unfortunately there were none but I sure took the time to enjoy mother nature.
The peace and quiet, priceless!

Looks great. Too bad you struck out. You can have as many of my coyotes as you can haul off.

I'll take 'em all. The more coyotes you shoot here at Ft. Sill, OK the more tickets for the upcoming deer gun draw you'll get.
In fact, all I need is 5 'yotes...

Times sure changed around there. Coyotes weren't much of a problem back in the early eighties when I was there.
I hear they used to pick them off by Huey before my time in the 200th. I'm sure it was just legend.
This was my favorite time of the year there.

Not sure about this, I wasn't around here in this are in the early eighties
But now they basically use hunters for their pest control and reward them with tickets for the deer gun draw. Works for me

Just yesterday my wife and the lady down the street were discussing snakes and how much they hate them.
Our neighbor asked me how I felt about snakes --- I told her that I don't like 'em. Too many little bones.

If I saw a coyote, I would teach him how to play Frisbee with me.

Snakes and fish are about the only critters out there that supply toothpicks to use after you eat them. Acebow

Tried again today. Saw turkey and deer... no 'yote. Not even a darn snake came out and it was in the low 60s today...
This Ram is a lifesaver. First it went up and down a hill that I would have never thought the 4x2 could make. Then, later today I had to do an emergency swerve b/c some blind, careless person pulled out in front of me while I was doing 40. The impact would have killed him.
My guardian angel was very present today and I really love this truck.

Thank you. It's lake Elmer Thomas (LETRA - Lake Elmer Thomas Recreation Area).

Snakes and yotes. No yote has ever tried to bite me.
As a farm boy I soon learned how to deal with yotes and the reason for doing so. Any recently demised yote is a good yote.
Old story for some but again;
My Dad's 200 acre farm faced some 200 foot bluffs on the south end overlooking a river. Lots of little caves. Snakes denned in them and came out each spring, right across our yard and barn yard. The most numerous one was the copperhead. You had to watch where you walked and where you put your hands.
Venomous snakes did not mix as I had a little Bro and Sister.
I will say that close to the house, barn and barn yard I've killed more copperhead snakes than one can literally count. 20 to 50 per year, plus those Dad killed and some by my little bro.
During the 3rd year after Dad bought the farm he bought some Hampshire hogs and kept them in the south 40.
Hogs love snakes, the little bones do not bother them. They have a good sense of smell, all the rooting in the leaves and downed logs soon had even seeing any snake rare.
Hogs make good snake husbandry tools.
For the snake huggers, I did not kill Copperheads away from the farm, they are good for field mice and small vermin.

Oh wow....
I'd love to be out on beautiful day like that. It's still cloudy and raining constantly around here. We might get a little sun through the clouds but it starts raining again just like it has for the last few months.

A day in the woods without seeing a snake is a good day period.

I just built a house on two acres in a neighborhood about 15 minutes North of downtown Oklahoma City. We just moved in last weekend but I saw Turkey in my front yard yesterday and fresh deer prints are around the house every
morning.

Well, that's perfect. You can shoot your spring turkey from the porch while sipping your coffee

We thought about getting a rental up there, but we have found a great house south of Ft. Sill.

Much better access from most other directions for sure. But it's nice up there.
