Has anyone been to the Titanic Museum in Pigeon Forge. Considering a trip there in the near future.
What were your thoughts, worth the visit?
Other than Dollywood is there anything else there worthwhile?

I don't remember the name, but there is a nice Aviation Museum at the airport. Lots of WWII planes including two P47s. Definitely worth the time for a visit.

it is absolutely worth it. took the grand kids there a couple of years back. when you enter you get a ticket with the name of a passenger or crew member. there is a short movie, then the trip thru the "ship". get the headphones and you can listen to information at the many displays. it is amazing what they have recovered from that deep. as you exit you will see the lists on the wall of the passengers and crew. then you find out if you survived or not. very moving. enjoy. the aquarium in Gatlinburg is great too. there is a multi-story parking garage near it. go kart tracks for the kids and adults alike. lots of good places to eat(my favorite part). enjoy. lee

Pigeon Forge is the biggest tourist trap I have ever seen . It's great if you have children but for a couple of adults the experience was maddening . Traffic , cheesey t-shirt shops and fast food joints , etc.
Make the short drive to SMKW to salvage the day .

My main interest for the visit is for the Titanic, will take into consideration some of the other places to vist.
I don't know if we will be taking the Motorhome or just moteling it.
I'm pretty sure the granddaughter will be with so a trip to the Aquarium will be in order! ;)

The beef jerky outlet alone is worth the trip :D Seriously, the titanic and aquarium are worth visiting, plus if you get bored just drop the wife off at the tanger outlet mall while you go to knife works and bass pro.

Pigeon Forge is certainly well worth the trip. The wife and I had hit the Titanic Museum during a prior visit. She enjoyed it a lot more than I did, but it's well done.

Here's my contribution, based on our trip there last November:

Places To Shop in the Area:

1. Smoky Mountain Knife Works 2320 Winfield Dunn Parkway Sevierville 37876 865-453-5871

2. Right Arm Firearms 3115 Wears Valley Road Sevierville 865-908-0795

3. Bud’s Gun Shop & Range 2270 Two Rivers Boulevard Sevierville 865-774-2007

4. *****Bull’s Eye Gun & Pawn *** 1608 Jenkins Road Sevierville 865-286-5388

5. Bass Pro Shop 3629 Outdoor Sportsman Place Kodak 865-932-5600

6. Sevier Indoor Range 1874 Country Meadows Drive Sevierville 865-774-6111

I was very lucky. We met another Marine and his wife there, then he and I made the rounds sans the wives!! We also kept a leisurely retiree's pace throughout the entire day.

I was at the Corvette Expo there two weeks ago. We had a great time; especially enjoyed the three moonshine shops in Gatlinburg. You've got to love a town that encourages free moonshine tastings. :)

Titantic Museum

We took our grandkids to Pigeon Forge last summer. They really liked to Titanic Museum. They also liked the Dixie Stampede. Their best memory was becoming Junior Rangers in the GSMNP. We stayed in our motorhome at the KOA. It's a great location right beside Patriot Park and the hub of the Trolley system.

I remember hating the bumper to bumper traffic jams daily, and remember loving a visit to Cades Cove in the Gatlinburg area. Lots of cheesy stuff in P.F. but I did love the time with the fam. And both my wife and 14 yo son LOVED the Tanger Outlet Mall. I stayed glued to the "husband benches" outside each store.
Hope you have a great time.

Roger

Yeah.....the Dixie Stampede is pretty cool. So is the Lumberjack Feud. You might also enjoy the Comedy Barn.

Liked Ripley's. Broke my ankle doing the whitewater rafting thing. They told me to see my Dr when I got home. All I remember for the rest of the trip was crutches and lots of Makers Mark to kill the pain.

So I can highly recommend visiting the Makers Mark libation stand. Stay away from the white water.

I'd go with this.....

The entire place is a money grubbing tourist trap. If you must go, the Smoky Mountain Knife Works is worth seeing. So is the Ripley's Aquarium.

The big question is whether or not you are taking kids.

My folks retired there for years. Expect traffic. Some of the shows are good and not too expensive. I really second the Ripley's Aquarium because it's awesome, better than any I've been in. Be sure to take money to the knife works because you'll probably see something you like. Dollywood is a total anathema to kids and teenagers, but it's not bad for adults about ONCE. I mean they've got BROOM shops(?) One thing I did see there was the live eagle show with the rescued eagles. If you've got kids the go cart tracks are really cool.

Wonderworks is a humongous building that is built upside down. It's full of tricks, optical illusions, etc. and all of us enjoyed ourselves. If you haven't been in the park you should go. From Gatlinburg you can drive up to Newfound Gap and it's a good few hour trip and we stop at a few nature trails.

There are shows there for many tastes. Some are dinner shows. We saw a good magician show and took my Mom to see 'Elvis'. If you want a big night with dinner the 'Dixie Stampede' is worth seeing once. It's a real variety show. We thought the magic act with the wagons was really lame, but the ostrich races were funny.

Even though I've been to several Ripley's museums and they are pretty much the same, if you haven't been to one, try that in Gatlinburg. That's about all that's worthwhile in Gatlinburg, the place is a horrible tourist trap. Me and my son do share a laugh because when he was little we went on this horror subway thing that was so bogus we almost split our sides. If you ice skate Ober Gatlinburg has a good rink up a sky lift.

If you like carpet golf Pigeon Forge and Myrtle Beach are probably the biggest attractions in the world.:D The one in PF with the 'volcano' that fires up every few minutes is pretty good.

I've been curious about the skydiving tower, but not that curious.

The Old Mill is worth a short visit.
