Thumbs up The Guns of John Moses Browning

Note: Smith & Wesson firearms were so perfect not even the genius of JMB could improve of them.

Makes you wonder what today's world would look like if he, Garand, Stoner and Kalashnikov had been barbers and car salesmen.

Browning was undeniably a genius, the greatest ever to design firearms.

One of the finest things I believe is that most of his models are still doing what they are made for. I know I have a large investment in many of his patents.

That would make a nice addition to my reloading room. Where can I get one?

And this doesn't even include all of them! There are several additional models which were manufactured exclusively by F.N. and distributed only by them. Some were also license built by countries like Sweden, which adopted the F.N. Model 1903 "Grande", as their Model 1907. This is a pistol which is basically the 1903 Colt Pocket on steroids! Cal. 9mm Browning Long. (9x20 SR).

A side note. It has been reported in the past that every design ever presented to the US Military for testing was eventually adopted for service. There is no other firearms designer that can make this claim!

Don't forget all the patents that Winchester bought and never produced so no one else could get them.

Very interesting, thanks for sharing that.
I was aware he was involved in most of those, but I had no idea he had anything to do with the Ithaca M37.

Mr Browning is probably turning over in his grave so fast we could hook him to a generator and power the entire the city of Salt Lake.

Default Poor quality pistols...

In another thread we were discussing how pocket .25 ACP pistols were often of poor quality besides being a puny round. Dig that little 'Baby Browning' vest pocket pistol. I think I'd trust that one to work when the trigger was pulled.

I have a 1929 A5 shotgun. made by F.N. Every part is milled, nothing stamped. When the bolt slams shut, it sounds like serious hunk of hardware.

There are a couple vintage A5s FS on a local board. Beautiful firearms & undoubtedly good for however many more rounds you'd care to put through 'em.

If John Browning had been an inventor of something more "politically correct" he'd be right up there with Edison as an American genius!
The Browning M2(MA Deuce) 50 cal machine gun is still in service after more than 80 years. It is by far the longest a firearm has remained in active inventory. The Colt 1911 is probably second.
