Car dealers D&H $
Isn`t $399.00 a little high for car dealers to charge for D&H even on used cars? (Grand Jct.)

Is D&H the same as the "$399 document fee" BS we get here in NV? IIRC it costs the dealer about $38 to do the state paperwork.

When at the car dealership remember everything is negotiable and be ready to walk if you're not happy with the terms.

It used to be called a "lot fee". It is added to pay the bills. Even the sales guys don't get a cut of that money

I sell trucks-cars, and in some States the fees are even higher. Demand that you only pay what it cost the dealer, or tell them to stuff it. There are a lot of ways we all get worked over.
Thank you,
Henry

Doc fees around here as high as $599. It's just a fee. It could be called the dealer profit padding fee. Calling a doc fee helps them get away with it.

The last new car I bought I caught the fee at the last moment. I told them take it off or I'm out the door. They took it off.

I sold cars for a number of years, and have bought my share of cars as well. I never had a problem buying or selling for an agreed upon price. Just be clear that all you are going to pay is XXXX dollars, and they can divide it up any way they want. That number includes everything, tax, license, poly-razzmataz paint treatment, whatever.,
Every dealership has a door, use it if the deal isn't what you want and agreed to.
BTW, when they get you to pay an extra 400 bucks or so, it is called a "bump". You can almost always bump a woman.

Whenever I go to buy a car anymore, I always bring a cooler with drinks and snacks with me. They try to wear you out. I pull it out after I pick out the one I want. Keep sandwiches in it too. I make it clear I'm there for the long haul.
Maybe I'll start bringing a cot too...
