Is Texas Still In A Drought?
I know Texas has recently had enormous amounts of rain and destructive flooding.
However, I seem to recall you guys were also in the midst of a historic drought.
Are water tables back to normal levels?

Doing great now except for a few reservoirs: Water Data For Texas
To prevent another water shortage, I don't believe the state is accepting any new residents

That's a funny statement from a Texan. We all keep hearing south Texas is "flooded" with new residents.
Our moisture in Iowa was below normal until this June. My rain gauge has recorded about 8" this month.

In many areas of the state the drought has broken and aquifers and lakes are re-filling. And the grass is green again. No idea how long it will last. It's been a very dry three years (or more) in most parts of south and west Texas.

Last couple of days have been typical Texas weather, hot and dry. Not complaining yet, but Texans always reserve the right to complain about the weather.

I was just curious because I hadn't seen anything on the news.
I did see one website reporting that there were spots in central Texas that still showed drought conditions. That surprised me.

I believe there is an exemption for citizens that will defend the constitution of the United States with the conviction of our founding fathers.
I am pretty sure you would qualify if you are a member on this forum

Plenty of water in Houston the last few months. I think west Texas may have some drought counties left, but then our counties are bigger than some states.

Not entirely true.
Yankees are welcome if they bring money. Damn Yankees are not.
What's the difference you ask?
A Yankee is someone who comes for a visit and then goes home.
A Damn Yankee is one who comes and stays.........

[QUOTE=S&WIowegan;138595797]That's a funny statement from a Texan. We all keep hearing south Texas is "flooded" with new residents.
South Texas is flooded with new residents. Some of them are temporary. We call them Winter Texans. Every year long about Thanksgiving they come down here in the motor homes and travel trailers to escape the snow and cold up north. In the spring they migrate north. The other kind are flooding across our unguarded southern border from Mexico and Central America.
The drought while bad was not that unusual. More than half the state is considered arid to semi-arid even in normal times.

Seriously, I think some of west Texas is still a little dry. Maybe Lake Travis is too. Someone around Austin can address that. Red River is peaking now, from the last go around with Bill. I can mow my yard and the next day, it looks shaggy. Ugh.

When it's flooding in Texas, you can count all the snakes....kind of a census.
