What should I be afraid of now?
Apparently they've cancelled the prepper shows. I haven't been reminded of the EMP threat in a long time. ISIS...or ISIL...or whatever...is getting old - guys in pickup trucks on the other side of the planet don't seem very threatening...
So I'm confused, what am I supposed to be afraid of now?

Oh, it's a long list, but then again, I'm one of those conspiracy theorists you hear about and a bit of a worry wart!

ISIS is close enough to throw rocks at on our border in Mexico. They claim to have soldiers in every state of the union. Several have already been arrested in the U.S. They have training camps right across our border to the south. Where do you think some of the refugees from Iraq and Syria are being transplanted? Someone will attack our power grid sooner or later. Eventually a dirt bag will carry a small dirty nuclear bomb into a crowded stadium. The biggest threat will be cyber attacks and a good reason to shut down the money system, food supplies, and everday life. Then there are riots at home which seem to start at the drop of the hat. Other than that, things should be peaceful. Have a nice day.

I read on the internet (if it's on there it HAS to be true) ISIS is planning an attack on America on July 4th. Don't know about you, but I'll be ready.
Only thing in this world I'm Skeered of is Missus Fan, who is going through menopause, and the IRS. Both can kill me....and have threatened to.

I still have the Y2K supplies I picked up. 4 extra gas cans (used and replaced gas), a hand crank radio, and the normal pantry with a few months of food. I just moved and feel no motivation to help a bunch of strangers that won't wipe their own nose. So I'm in good shape.
By The Way; all of my guns and ammo turned out to be Y2K compliant!

Just be happy you are not living in Greece today. But the effects will also be felt here. It should be interesting to see what the stock markets do today. That's the price of Greeks working 3 days per week and retiring on full pay at 50. And they actually thought it could go on forever.

I'm afraid the cable networks won't find something fresh to talk about and they will just keeping repeating and showing the same video clips of whatever the current crisis is ad infinitum.

Actually, these days the greatest threat to the average person is themselves. Heart disease, cancers, vehicular accidents, etc caused by our own behaviors and lifestyles will get far more of us than anything else.

The National Debt
Greece is in peril over 1.8 billion of debt....we (USA) are in debt over 18 trillion.
I worry for the kids & grandkids. In 1976 the whole nation was a buzz over our bicentennial...I don't see that kind of hoop-lah & jubilee coming in 2076 for our tricentennial (if we make it).
I don't wish to be a kill joy, so I will close with wishing everyone a Happy 4th for 2015!

skyrocketing ammo prices
component shortages
general firearm price insanity
why? Here come the 2016 elections. Time to panic buy again!!!!

Sasquatch...might be hungry...or lonely...either way best avoided.
Cows...see the recent thread on cow guns
Chicken raptor awakening...self explanatory
Large man eating pigs...to them we are the bacon.
Escaped zoo animals...hey, it happens.
Gray aliens....Elves...Dwarves...brain eating amoebas....giant spiders....the inevitable zombie apocalypse...

Greece?!? Their whole country has 40% of the population of Texas and maybe, on a good day, 15% of Texas' GDP. How on earth can they impact the world economy unless everybody overreacts for no reason?

Yup, Greece. An economy the size of Louisiana, 2% of the total EU economy. Will the drachma surge in value? Inquiring minds want to know.....

Actually, given the internet and the blessing and curse of the "username", speaking your mind has never been as safe and as easy as these days. Nobody has to actually stand behind what they say anymore. In the old days you had to sign your name to a letter to the editor if you wanted to see it published, and be afraid what the pastor or your clients might think of your language. These days people unload their profanity-laden diatribes in internet forums without having to worry about anyone they know finding out what despicable oafs they really are.
That's one area where I kinda wish people had to worry more.

Fox, CNN, HLN, MSNBC, or the Weather channel will give you a new fear each hour.
Or, does this holster go with these shoes and shirt? Fashionistas are always afraid of something.

You should worry about ISIS since they want to kill you.Remember the lesson learned about being a JV team made by someone in a rainbow colored house.I would also worry about the debt..once it reaches $24 Trillion the USA is done..can't pay the interest on that note.

Take a dirty nuc into a crowded stadium of 100,000. What don't get killed will kill each other trying to get out.
A blink on the grid is nothing to the panic that will set in when it is out for weeks or months. People will go nuts without TV, lights, heat, and mostly video games.
I was around in the 60's. They now have the police conditioned to not do anything. Cameras everywhere and a witness to everything. Once it gets started there is no stopping it. They could barely slow it down in Missouri and hardly made a dent in Baltimore.

Fear-mongers. Be afraid of fear-mongers. They often have unhealthy reasons for wanting you afraid.
Never let facts get in the way of a good conspiracy theory, and if in doubt blame everything on the government.
Sure, there are people who want to hurt us. We're about due for some terrorist activity. There's no way to prevent it completely.
But I pretty much live by some words of a wise man who hailed from the town of Assisi. He and some associates were working in a garden when a deranged man ran by, screaming that the end of the world was imminent. The wise man's friends asked him, "What shall we do?"
"We'll keep working in the garden," he answered.

Ok folks. I'm just not convinced there is anything of which I should be afraid.
But if you can get cable TV to bring back several hours a week of reality programming about EMP's or whatever, then maybe I'll get back on the bandwagon.
