Had to wait 1 1/2 hrs for the background check to clear.It normally only takes about 12-15 minutes.LGS had a shelf loaded up with customers purchases.Customers said to call them if and when it clears and they would come back tomorrow.It was also nice to see young women in there purchasing firearms.

Must be that darn no-fly list causing the backups.

10 days. No exceptions.

Same here. LGS says the usual queue was 10 to 12.
Now never less than 300.

My neighbor purchased a shotgun at a local big box store last weekend. It took a couple hours for his background check to go through. Then, when he got the checkout line, it was discovered that they had put his 12 gauge shotgun in a 20 gauge box! Back to the gun counter to find the correct box......

In Virginia I was delayed at least for two hours so had to come back the next day to pick up 4 revolvers. Sad but I can live with it.

I was in my LGS last evening, and he was completing a sale, and commenting it was the longest clearance wait he has ever had. Took over 40 days!! The buyer hadn't purchased a gun for over 25 years and I guess they had to check him out from scratch. Being kind of "off the grid" has some disadvantages as well as advantages.

I've picked up a couple of old colts in the last month.My wait has been about 20-30 minutes.

Last night in Richmond, VA my background check took 6 mins. BUT... the sales kid put my last name in incorrectly and called in to correct it. The next step was a 40 min wait after the spelling correction was made. I just sat there and worked the slide the entire time ;-)

I bought two guns a few weeks back, approval with CHL took time to walk from counter to cash register (20 yards?).

10 long days here in Komifornia...

You would think that with today's technology they would amend the law.Why such an arbitrary number?

I was in Buds big store in Sevierville yesterday. The LINE at the background check desk...where two people were working...was at least 20 folks long. If that's any indication, the checkers must be very busy.

Say what you will, but that's not exactly a NICS delay. Plus, you have to admit it does keep you from the problems that the OP and others are experiencing . . .

(Although, I have to admit I don't know if CA runs the NICS when you make the initial purchase or when you pick it up. If the latter, then the recent delays would just add insult to injury for me)

CA legislators say it's a cooling off period. Politicians will say that this is imposed to prevent 'crimes of passion,' such as; husband gets mad at wife, husband hits wife, wife goes to store to buy a gun, but has to wait 10 days to receive said gun, by the time wife gets gun, she has "cooled down" and does not want to kill husband.
It used to be 15 days, but lowered to 10 days.

In my state and probbaly several others, if you have a current CCW/ CCL then you do not have to wait for them to call in your check. They can proceed based off your current CCL.

I was delayed a couple hours once, the "system" was down. Usually is less than 5 minutes. Ain't but 6 people in the US (and I don't know 4 of them) with my name. I bought 3 guns in 2015, 2 I exchanged cash for and had the call in for a Spike's AR lower. Joe

That would be the time The Peoples DemonKratiK RepubliK of KaliforniaStan makes you wait to actually pick up the firearm. IF it is your first firearm purchase. Didn't they change the "cooling off period" if you already own a gun??

Time to get through the Background Check is normally only a few minutes.

Now if Kailfornia will just pass a law that Zombies and other things that go bump in the night must give you ten days notice before any attack. They must then wait ten days so you can buy a guy and wait ten days to pick it up, and then be prepared for them.
