We're All Dealers Now

If its only one, no foul. Nothing required(yet).
This could change from " nothing to see here, move on" to so onerous almost overnight, its frightening.
Look closely through all the smoke and remember...
NO Compromise!

Since it doesn't seem likely any sane person at this time can comprehend exactly what wershington really wants/is really up to I am modestly curious about what else happened to the Cajunlawyer in Key West besides "ear"-piercing... :D

It looks like they're stopping the ability to acquire NFA items through trusts(the workaround as some call it) as well. Now you'll need your local police sign offs for suppressors, SBR's, etc.

"ATF is finalizing a rule that makes clear that people will no longer be able to avoid background checks by buying NFA guns and other items through a trust or corporation."

It makes me sad knowing what this will do to the availability of used guns.
This is more than likely by design. You may think that there will be plenty
an established dealer. Well, won't it count as one sale every time someone brings in a gun on consignment or trade? This will not help dealers in that respect.
Unintended consequences was mentioned previously. I think its intended consequences.

Then there is this. A CCW requires a background check. Therefore the requirement of a background check is satisfied. But now the EO requires the seller to have a FFL?

It helps dealers, it hurts us who used to sell some handguns on the internet sites here and there. I would always send them to ffls though (ffl to ffl transfer)and they would handle the transfer. Guess my new limit is dealing off one per year or holding on to them. I do not need to sell them anyway but this sure looks like a way to keep people from making money without the government knowing about it.

I hate to play devil's advocate, but if you're doing it to make money, you're running a business . . .

It's not going to help dealers once their stock is gone. They'll be getting one gun person per year after that. I suspect many wont be doing that anymore and burning up the one gun per year allowance.
Dealers will still need a source of supply and this will put a massive dent in that.
( Exactly what you mentioned in your post)

Just another way to take more of Our rights away.
When You become a FFL You give up Your right to privacy as the BATF can visit anytime They feel like it and scour over Your records(and they better be in order)then if You quit or let Your license expire You have to send them Your bound record Book with all the Names and information of the People You bought or sold Guns to and from.
Thats not to mention all the headaches of just getting approved for the License. So for all intents and purposes Obama has closed the imaginary Gun Show loop hole.

If true what he's trying to do is outlaw most private transfers and require gun sales go through a dealer like CA now does. Other than having agents and cops police gun shows how would they know how many guns you sold in private transfers?

Lawyers are standing by to file lawsuits.

And what about those with concealed carry permits. Do they need to go through a background check now? I think this thing will be shot down in the courts fairly quickly, but in the meantime there are a great many unanswered questions.
