Tomorrow morning the 2016 SHOT Show opens up hear in Vegas

As usual, some of the Media is invited out to the Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club to shoot some of the new offerings in the morning. The afternoons are for buyers. Only 1500 buyers are invited to the event.

This is a large outdoor facility about 30 minutes from Vegas. About 50 shooting pits for pistol, more than a dozen for rifle, a LONG Range area not to mention shotgun fields.

I am going to start with Kimber's new revolver, the K6s

This is a small pocket revolver chambered for 357 Magnum

kr1s.jpg

It weighs in at 23+ ounces just like a model 640, but the Kimber carries one additional round.

The cylinder has an interesting hexagon shape to it.

kr2s.jpg

The rear sight is dovetailed and the front is pinned so they can be easily changed. The cylinder release is very Rugeresque

kr3s.jpg

One very interesting feature is that the cylinder is recessed for the case heads :) While not important to operation, us older Smith and Wesson guys like that

kr4s.jpg

OK, you are asking "How does it shoot"

Pretty much like any 640. Physics is Physics,23 ounces and 357 Magnum is not going to be "FUN" no matter what you do.

This was not built to be Fun, it was built to save your butt

These are not yet in production. The first 1,000 will be polished bright stainless while the production version will look much like the one in these photos.

Price you say? MSRP will be around $850 just like many other firearms in it's class

Smith and Wesson has introduced the "Victory" a 22LR Autoloader, I know it looks like the old 22S

victory1s.jpg

One of the Smith and Wesson guys says it rivals the Model 41. While I have plinked with one, I need time on targets to better evaluate that statement

victory2s.jpg

The Victory's barrels can be easily changed with just an allen wrench. Initially, Smith and Wesson will have two different barrel profiles. The magazine is a new design specific for this pistol

victory3s.jpg

The barrels shown are produced by Volquartsen

Triple K is already making holsters for the pistol

One of the things asked about in the Smith-WessonForum was the Korth conversion cylinder for the L-frame revolvers

This is a kit that includes a new cylinder, crane and a speed loader all designed to allow 9MM ammunition to be shot from any of the L-frame 58x or 68x families of revolvers that use a full length ejector rod.

korth1s.jpg

The crane is supplied oversized and required fitting to the frame it will be utilized on. Once fitted, the original cylinder/crane assembly and the Korth assemble can be swapped anytime the user desires.

MSRP on the complete package is $500. The kits are currently in the US and available to be ordered

If you have ever priced purchasing a second cylinder and added the cost of letting Pinnacle or TK re-chamber and cut it for moon clips plus the price of a dozen or so moon clips, you will realize this is a fairly good value.

I will add some indoor photos of the component parts in the next day or so.

Beretta is introducing 22LR versions of the longstanding model 92. The first two offerings will be standard barrels on frames both with and without equipment rails. Later models may be available with threaded barrels. An accessory threaded barrel will be offered

b92s.jpg

The pistol ships with a single magazine and has an MSRP of $399.

I went to the show with my son who is a Las Vegas LEO. We hit booths he wanted for work and some I wanted to see. Crowd was good as usual, Got my photo taken with Jerry Miculek at S&Ws booth.
Fondled the new Ruger American and the Kimber revolver.
Very tired , will go back tomorrow to do the lower level.

Does S&W have anything new apart from the 22 Victory, the ported Shield, the M&P15-22 Sport, and the M&P15 Sport II?

Is anyone at the S&W booth talking about their submission to the FBI pistol trials or their next generation M&P for the Modular Handgun trials?

The SW22 Victory is the only NEW addition to the lineup

As you mentioned some of the exiting products are being released in new configurations. The two other introductions are.....

The 380 Bodyguard is now available without the thumb safety

The Shield is now available with night sights

Already got my NTS w/Night Sights Shield 9mm! Now the 380 Bodyguard is available in the NTS configuration!  What's the SKU # on that if don't mind? I don't see it on the S&W website yet.

Going to have to hide that one from the wife... shhhh don't tell!

So there is a S.H.O.T. Show this year. You wouldn't have thought so, looking at the local "Review-Journal." Every Saturday, they run a column listing upcoming conventions, where they are to be held, and the expected turnout. NOT ONE listing/mention of the S.H.O.T. show over several weeks, and it is certainly a big enough event with tens of 1000s of attendees.

Hope this is due to the recent upheaval at the paper and not to any anti-gun bias...

SIG has re-introduced one of the pistols that made them famous. Now designated the P225-A1 4 variations are being initially offered.

For those of you that do not know, The SIG P225-A1 is a single stack 9MM autoloader with terrific ergonomics. All versions on display had the optional tritium night sights along with the standard length trigger. The SIG P225-a1 does employ SIG's Short Reset Trigger system. All slides are finished in Nitron (except TT) and the frames are hard anodized. Weight is 30.5 ounces for the base model

This version was wearing very attractive checkered wood stocks.

This standard version is wearing two piece G10 grips with the SIG medallion

The third version sports a two tone look

Yeah, I noticed that too and I'm on the LV Review Journal's site daily (I live in sin city). Strange indeed.

If it shoots better than my Browning Buckmark Camper, which is quite a tack driver, field strips as easily and priced near the Buckmark ($350) I might consider adding it to my stash.
It even resembles it.

SIG's fine family of X-Pistols have been missing from the market for more than a year now. We all have heard that the German Government stopped SIG's exportation of firearms. There have been rumors as to why which I will not go into here. The thing that most of us never realized is that not only have the export of products been stopped, but also all intellectual property. This means blue prints, CNC code, etc.

So while SIG here in the US was working on projects that had been on the schedule for years, they also now had to recreate all of the blue prints and documentation for the X-family and then have new CNC code produced.

Well that task is at a stage where SIG is ready to assign a production team to put three models back into the product lineup. This is not just the pistols, but the necessary accessories as well.

Unofficially, we could be seeing X-pistols by the mid summer and possibly at a lower price point that the German guns since currency exchange is no longer in the picture. :)

I want one with the threaded barrel for a suppressor. I can't have it in California, but that is one more reason I'm moving to Nevada.

Jag,
I left S. Cal for Vegas 15yrs. ago. It's a great place for shooting, purchasing firearms and acquiring a cc permit.
