Abby Sciuto makes a S&W boo boo on NCIS
I never thought that I would live to see the day that Abby made a mistake. Unfortunately, on last night's episode, there was a shooting involving a S&W Victory model.
Later in the lab, Abby described the gun as a 1942 Model 10 Victory model. As we all know, model numbers did not come in to being until 1957 or 1958 so a 1942 weapon would not be referred to as a Model 10.
Oh well Abby, I still love you.

As long as she didn't call it a "ghost gun" or say it that had a "shoulder thing that goes up", I guess it's forgivable.

Getting the shooter's DNA from a bullet recovered from the spine of the victim sounds like an impossible thing to do. (However, anything is possible in Hollywood!) Any DNA left on the bullet from touching the ammunition while loading of the gun would have been wiped clean from firing process, traveling down the barrel and then traveling through the body.

More importantly, DiNozzo runs off into the sunset with Jeanne Benoit.

Abby took a little getting used to for us. But now we love her. I do get sick and tired of DiNosso's obnoxious personality though. I wish McGee would kick his ***. But at least we get to see Gibbs give him a well deserved head slap now and then. And I do miss David. That little gal could kick some ***!

What few people know is that Abby (Pauley) has a college degree in forensics. I love her character and DiNozzo can be a little on the obnoxious side. Really do miss Ziva.

Just keep her loaded up with Caf-Pow.
Oh, and I consider the model 10 to an 'extra information' thing as opposed to a 'wrong information' thing.

Except for her 'widow's peak'. (everything else is ok, though) But I like it when she's around with somebody doing the holding-the-hostage-in-front-of-them-while-saying, "You don't dare shoot!!!" thing.
I get tired of every woman having to be a kick-butt artist, but Ziva seems to have a plausible background.
Is is pronounced dah-VEED and Goliath???

I do not know where to verify this type of info, however, if I recall correctly, the 1942 Victory Model and forward for a few years, was called the Model 10 by S&W, although the gun did not bare any markings. In the gun world, back at that time, the Victory was always referred to as the Victory Model 10 in writings and conversations. etc.

Well whoever, wrote that the Victory was a model 10 was incorrect. That would be like saying that a 1942 dime is a 1958 dime that came out earlier....

Does it really matter if they called it a model 10 or a Victory?
Technically it's the same gun that later had its name changed but does it really matter?

With all do respect, I believe you are wrong. I distinctly recall the 1942 Victory being referred to by S&W in catalogs and other documents, as the 1942 Victory Model 10. Yes, I agree that the gun itself did not bear any stamping or other markings identifying it as a Model 10, but it was definitely referred to as the Victory Model 10. I recall it well, I am 74 years young, but I still have a good memory. I'll do a bit of looking now!

His character was "just developing"? This is season 13. Thirteen years.
How long should it take to develop it?

How can a 1942 produced gun be a Model 10 when the Model 10 was not named until the late 50's?
Show me a S&W ad from the 40's or early 50's that lists the Victory model as a Model 10.

I've gotta go with JSR on this one. If model numbers were not assigned by Smith & Wesson until 1957, how is it possible they were referred to as model 10s more than ten years earlier?

Here are a few more links. The last one states than the Model 10 designation by S&W has been in place since 1899.

Again, articles written by folks that are not part of the company. Just because you read something in print does not make it so. Did the Smith and Wesson .38 M&P become the Model 10 in 1957 or 1958, absolutely. Can you call a 1942 Victory model a Model 10, NO.
This is a free country and you may call it whatever you wish. But calling a Model A Ford a Crown Victoria does not make it one.

Actually a Crown Victoria was never a model A where as the M&P 38 simply had its name changed. Just for argument sake let's assume that the numbers started on 1/1/1957. That means that same exact gun was a M&P on 12/31/1956. On that date a gunsmith at S&W had left unfinished on his table a M&P and when he came back to work the next day the company told him to stamp it with a "10". But it was the same gun. Nothing about it had changed. That's like what's the difference between a Datsun 280z and a Nissan 280z? Nothing except the name. Same car

bring this forum's normally staid; reserved; men into a seething rancorous
state; has; according to some, a too severe "widows peak"; and
is smarter than a "DenozieO" ?? who may or may not be gone;
and if he / it is gone; may be replaced by David somebody; but
the pronunciation of his name is unclear.
That is about what I gleaned from this thread. Oh,.....there
was mention of some kind of gun too.
