Keith Emerson dead???
For those who remember, Keith Emerson, keyboardist for ELP was found dead by his partner and is being investigated as a suicide by a shot to the head. He was 71.
He was an amazingly talented and creative musical genius and a great showman.
John Lord is gone
Rick Wakeman is still around
That's one out of three of the best ever left with us.

It breaks my heart whenever I hear of someone's suicide. Very sad news. May he rest in peace.

Tragic. He was a genius, and only 71. I loved ELP.

I hate to be nosy.....
I hate to be nosy, but I'd feel better if there were some sort of reason for this. Was he sick, or depressed? He's about the last guy in the world I'd expect to take his own life. The only negative things I've heard in the last years were his colon surgery and he was having problems with carpal tunnel in his hands and wrists probably due to his percussive style of playing.

Only speculating, but he was incredibly gifted, and obviously very intelligent. It seems to me that it is often the type that chooses this path for their ending. Robin Williams comes to mind, and I'm sure many others will come to me shortly.
Fortunately for me, my lack of intelligence bodes well for the odds of me taking my own life. Not to be crass, mind you.

There are reports of previous health issues. Maybe one of them had returned in terminal form and he decided not to go through the process.

Contrast that works.
Skill and talent along with genius and soul.
Both gone.

I read that he had some type of degenerative nerve disorder and it affected his hands. I have no personal knowledge however.
