Robert Ryan and Rod Cameron. I wonder if they are related?
They sure do look alike.
or am I seeing things by watching too many westerns? Just saw Robert Ryan opposite Randolph Scott and Gabby Hayes this morning in: Return of the Bad Men--which was a decent minor "A" western.

If I had to guess I'd guess not, but who knows. For many years I didn't know that James Arness aka Matt Dillon was the brother of the guy from Mission Impossible. Can't think of his name just now. Somebody help me out will ya. I remember thinking that they looked a lot alike but it was may years before I found out for sure.

It was actually his mother's maiden name. We always called him Fig, for his role as Jim Newton in My Friend Flicka.

You're correct. He was born in Calgary, Alberta.
He did a lot of journeyman acting, then a bunch of work in serials. He hit his stride in westerns after Johnny Mack Brown left the movies. He was a big man and looked good in the saddle.
Critics today look at his films as sort of B movies, and truth be known, most of them probably were. But Cameron managed to bring an honesty to the parts he played.
When I was a kid, I saw him in a film titled The Steel Lady, about some adventurers or something who find a long buried German tank in the desert. I remember liking it a lot...it seemed a cut above the generic male-oriented he-man adventure flicks of the fifties.
He had a somewhat interesting married life. He divorced his wife and married her mother. This action led film director William Witney to call Cameron "The bravest man he had ever known."
He did live out his later years in a house on Lake Lanier in Georgia.
