Health and Fitness Thread

Kinda sore today but that was expected. The gym was closed for snow on Monday and we did what we could for a home workout but I don't have a pull up or pull down bar so I couldn't workout my lats. At the gym, I start with pull ups and continue with pull downs.
Anyway, good workout yesterday, felt strong 'cept I was a coupla reps short on my pull ups but that was expected.
We had a Grrreat time in spin class.

When you don't have access to a pulldown machine or pull up bar try inverted rows.

or get a set of workout straps like TRX (which is a brand and there are all kinds of other brand options).

Plus I believe I read you have dumbbells so there is always the dumbbell row.

Good luck and have fun with your workouts. Always an interesting read.

I have an old Bullworker that I do a variation of straight arm pull downs with. Basically, it's a straight arm push down. Activates the lats but with a much shorter range of motion. All I have for dumbbells is a pair of 25 pounders.
I could probably rig something for inverted rows.

Wasn't sure if we were going to get to the gym on time for both a lifting workout and spin class.
My wife had a follow up visit with her ophthalmologist after her cataract surgery yesterday, he was a bit late so we started making alternative plans. I really wanted to get a good lifting workout and she wanted to spin. Well, actually, I wanted a good spin too.
We figured that she could go ahead and start spin, save me a bike and I can finish my workout then go to spin.
However, it all worked out just fine. I did have to skip some isolation exercises but I still got a good workout. She did some very careful lifting using light weights and high reps
The it was off to spin class just on time and we had lotsa fun.

Good time in spin today. We started with 8 people and ended with 6. That's groovy though, do what ya can and next time you might be able to do more. Everybody's a beginner at some time.
For supper I had some leftover bison chili and added rice for some carbs. Gonna be a workout day tomorrow.

Absolutely. We should never forget where we came from and how we started out.

If you want/need some inspiration, please take an hour of your day and watch this:

Sara Sigmundsdottir is such an inspiration. She's young and was bullied in school but found her strength and confidence. I love how genuine she is, fun and cute. Could listen to her for hours...

I have made a decision concerning my weight. I've decided to just eat healthy, make sure I get my protein and keep working out.
I can't seem to get my weight below 160 pounds.
Had a really good workout today, felt great and got a good pump.
Tomorrow's usually a spin day but we may not be able to make it.

Had a great time at the gym today. I gotta admit that even though I like to see people taking steps towards improving their health and fitness, I also like it when the gym's nearly deserted and we've got the whole place to ourselves and today it seemed as if people weren't willing to brave the snow.

I really liked the gym at the beginning of the virus. It was closed for about two months, then reopened. I was there on the third day it reopened after they worked out the procedural kinks.

There were days when I had the whole place to myself, it was great, and like that for about 9 months. Then mid 2021 more people started filtering back in.

I go 5-6 days a week now, down from 6-7 from just 2 years ago.

Sounds good. I have ordered more parts to our home gym.... can't wait for it to get here. I think it's a good investment.
Been considering some kinda home gym. We've got some stuff just need bunches of other stuff.
We don't have much room but we could rearrange some stuff in the basement.
Only problem is that it gets cold down there in the winter.

I was never really interested in lifting weights, losing weights, getting in real good shape. Until one day I woke up and something clicked, I have lost 24lbs since October 2021.

I gradually spend money on "fitness things" because I hate the gym and I won't go there if my life depends on it. But I found that I love working out at home. My cc will hate me for a long time but once it's here I'll post some pictures :)

I think it's an investment for a lifetime because you'll have it forever and can even pass it down to your children.

I have rearranged the garage and will keep rearranging it. it's a continuous process, never stops evolving.

Get a space heater or a mobile unit in there and you'll be fine. I think.

I kinda like going to the gym. I guess the folks in a West Virginia gym are just more friendly.
One fellow gym member paid me with cash and a pint of cherry moonshine for a holster for his 4" 686 plus.
My wife likes it too. She always finds somebody to jabber with.
Anyway, I've always been interested in fitness. I used to have my own home gym with a pull up bar in my old apartment many years ago.
Hiking, biking, Rollerblading, rock climbing and most any outdoor activity that seemed fun.
When my Dad died, I sold or gave away most everything I owned and moved back with my Mother. My Brother in law got most of my workout gear.
But I found a decent gym out at my Moms place and biked the trails I usta bike when I was a youngster.
Then my sister moved in and I was out of there. We just didn't seem to get along.
I rented a room from a cute little red head. There was a nearby gym right next to the beer store.
Anyway, eventually I met the woman who was to become my wife and we moved to small town West Virginia.
The nearest gym was at a clothing optional resort and since neither one of us has a problem with nudity that was fine with us.
They had a workout room with weight lifting and cardio equipment an indoor pool, sauna and 2 hot tubs. Unfortunately, due to poor management and neglect, the place got run down and unusable.
YMCA was next then finally a really nice gym in West Virginia.

We had my wife's delicious home made lasagna for supper today.
I tried to not over stuff myself but some things can't be helped.
Talk about carb loading. I should really be ready for the gym tomorrow.
Gonna be a lifting/yoga/spin day then leftovers for supper after we get home.
