I soooooo miss the canned bacon! It was worth the weight to take back packing, just to have that over salted crispy goodness at 0430 when I get up while camping!

My kids grew up knowing there was always "bacon in a can" in the pantry so no matter what, they could make bacon and eggs if mom wasn't home for dinner.

Sometimes the regular bacon would get used up for breakfast, and you would be toiling away in the garden and just before lunch your eye would see the first deep red ripe tomato of the season. There is only one correct thing to do; open a can of bacon and have BLT's for lunch.

The loss of canned bacon has so diminished the world we live in!

"fresh bacon" - now that there is an oxymoron!

Not at all sure I'd eat it again. I just put real fresh bacon in the camper fridge and cook that

I've had 'fresh' side pork & I'm here to tell you, IT AINT BACON! altho it is the same cut of meat, it is without seasoning & cure. The seasoning varies from brand to brand, some bacon being smoked & some just cured, but it is all cured (salt & nitrates) that make it BACON.

I have had plenty of canned & cured meats of most all kinds. The cook is the ingredient that can make any of it good or bad :)

The last time we were at the Krogers grocery store,,,
I purchased a pound of the butchers display case bacon.

To my surprise, as the butcher handed me my order,
he told me how un-healthy it is to eat bacon,,,,

WOW,,, everybody is on a health kick!!

I eat about 2 strips of bacon a week,,, if it kills me,,, it kills me!!

The canned bacon sounds like a great storage food!! :D

Used to keep a couple of cans in our camping gear and some in the pantry. Didn't take long to learn to treat it like salt pork and boil it for a couple of minutes before frying it (got rid of most of the salt) and it was quite good. Is it as good as fresh cut slabs, no, but sardines and potted meat don't taste anywhere near as good at home with clean hands either. Larry

The orginal celebrity canned bacon is suppose to be imported again.
That salty bacon was so awesome. The slab for $49 isn't bad. I just ordered Nueskies butcher cut bacon. Thick bacon for burgers, dogs, Olmets, grilled cheeses and BLT.

BACON ROCKS.

I purchased some Taylor Ham. It's gormet spam. Saberete hotdog sight sells it. I need to get more. I want to try the scrapple too never had it.

I'm 65yo and have so many bad things wrong with me the same only good things is my heart and lungs I never smoked and I really worked hard.
I'm on a bacon kick for now.

I remember seeing the old Europeans dipping bread in melted fat. They actually lived a long time. Everything in moderation.
