Great biography.
The mention of They Died With Their Boots On, the Errol Flynn movie, made me smile. I believe at the time the producers openly wanted to tell a story of Custer "as it should have been," not as it really was.

Thanks for sharing this. He led a great, honorable life. It's huge and tragic when we lose these old story tellers.
A biologist friend of mine has been working with a Crow medicine man for about five years to document the Crow names and medicinal uses of plants. It's fascinating. He is the last of his tribe who knows the information. He's in his 80s and my friend will be 70 next year. I hope they are able to complete their work in a way that satisfies them both.
