Firearms can now be ordered on-line from Cabela's

I thought you could always do that or at least have them order it for you.
Yes they would order it in person, but that required a separate trip, then getting someone to assist you, then getting that person to figure out exactly which gun you wanted in their inventory software, then that person gets someone else to help because they don't know how to use the software.

This looks much more efficient.

Pricing considerations apart (you go to Cabelas for selection, NOT price), that seems like an interesting arrangement.

Will they do it for other items as well?

They just opened a store in Avon, Ohio last Thursday. I went there on Saturday, and while I was almost as impressed as I was with their St. Louis County (Missouri) store, their holster selection wasn't that great.

However, their online selection is MUCH better.

I don't have a good place to have pilferable items delivered. If I ordered a holster online, would they deliver it to that store? A moderate price difference would be offset by the convenience.

I on-line shop certain on-sale ammo, delivered for free to my local store. That way I don't concern myself with in-stock quantities. I even put my husbands name down as the pick-up person, so it really couldn't be easier.

PS, our local store opened with a small selection of holsters, but it's steadily gotten more extensive.

I just tried to order a Galco Tuck-N-Go for my Citadel 3.5 CS. It lets you select "ship to store", but then tells you that item can't be shipped to a store.

Oh well...

That particular item ships direct from the manufacturer to your home, but in-stock Tuck-N-Go's like the one for the J-frame will ship to your local store.

If you ship FedEx, your local store offers free package hold for pick-up service.

My local FFL charges 10 bucks for a transfer and I don't pay any sales tax, what do they charge?
It's not a transfer, Cabela's is the originating seller.

The combined sales tax rate for Oklahoma City, OK is 8.375%. This is the total of state, county and city sales tax rates.

If your priority is to save a buck, Cabela's rarely wins on that score. Selection and convenience is what they offer.

Anybody know why they refuse to open a store in Tennessee?
Can't find a concrete reason they've stated for not having a presence in TN., though after seeing that they have several on the TN border, I have a hunch it's because TN. has the nations highest sales tax.

I just punted and had a Tuck-N-Go (from Amazon) shipped to the office for delivery tomorrow. It's just that my last three jobs have been contract gigs and can't be relied upon as permanent delivery sites.

[...] TN. has the nations highest sales tax.
King County, Washington, has a combined state and local sales tax of 9.5% on most sales with another 0.5% added on for hot cooked food and a few other things. The extra 0.5% provides stadium(s) for teams that are private businesses owned by local billionaires. The billionaires in turn donate millions promoting anti-gun initiatives. Washington State's cut is 7.8%. Rural Lewis County's combined rate is among the lowest at ~ 8%. How does Tennessee compare?

It's my understanding that Cabela store employees have to be able to spell the state the store is in.

What happened to the store in Chattanooga?
It's in Georgia.

I always wondered if the sales tax-internet order thing wasn't the reason.
