Default Grandpa didn't leave me a gun, but he did leave me one heck of a big bullet!

My Grandfather work at Bridgeport Brass his entire career, including the WWII years. I was lucky enough to inherit two mementos from his years there ... a 25th anniversary tie clasp (which I wear whenever I wear a tie, which isn't too often these days) and this monster ... a 37mm shell. The date on the brass is 1941. The date on the business end is 1942. The round is totally inert. Have had it apart. Just though I'd share it with y'all. Thank you, Grandpa!

Nice round, but not that big.

Last night on the news I heard a robber was caught carrying a 40mm pistol! Must have been one of those grenade launcher things!!

Back when I was a kid in the 1950s, we had a next door neighbor who, during WWII, had worked at Chase Copper and Brass Co. in the Cleveland area. They also made all sorts of artillery shell cases. He had quite a few cases of various sizes standing around in his living room. I thought they were really neat, even though I knew next to nothing about them. I always wondered what happened to them.
