Default HURRICANE

S.C. GOV. NIKKI HALEY just told people to evacuate if you are within 100 miles of the coast. Medical dependant folks should start now. Better safe than sorry.

This storm is a Whopper the Gov of Florida says to prepare 4 long outages of power. This storm can change directions at any time be prepared Ive already bought lots of extra supplies. But that does not help if the water rises. Florida is pretty flat. Im glad im on stilts Im worried about our cars and trucks they are only 6 or 7 feet above sea level. Im sure the roads will be filled with cars running from the storm the time is now to make your plan. Glad my wife starts the generators once a month and thats by pulling the cord. I guess I will make that decision on how much extra gas I buy tomorrow, dont like the wobble factor on the storm. Go to the bank and grab some cash if there is no power cash is king as always.

Don't play around and wait to the last minute, because it might be too late to leave. After riding out Andrew at the house, I decided that I wouldn't ride out another bad hurricane. The problem isn't just the normal high winds and the rain associated with a tropical system. There are also many tornadoes spawned by these storms too. With Andrew we had steady winds on excess of 120 mph, but it spawned hundreds of tornadoes and they did a tremendous amount of damage. Your house isn't worth your life.

He must have been the same guy signing at today's 9 AM news conference. It was like a skit from the old Saturday Night Live!

And here is the strange thing: he is deaf! He can't hear the speaker! To sign, he watches another person (who is not deaf) signing off-camera, and he "interprets" her signing.

Sounds kind of like a government "make work" program, doesn't it?

This is a bad storm. Hopefully it will loose it's punch when it starts drawing in dry air from the land. A cat 4 is monster. A cat 5 is the monster's mother.
