Cough Drops, Throat Lozenges, Life Savers, etc. ?

I have a chronic cough that's a side effect of a BP prescription. I need to
get it changed. But no, I can't suck them all the way to nothing. I have
to chew up the last 20% or so. I like the sugar free Great Value brand
at Walmart.

Walgreen's used to have their brand of Dad's Rootbeer cough drops. They were the best but they no longer make them anymore.

Ricolah are decent and get the job done.

I also get down to about 20% then bite them as they are too small.

Any time I talk about feeling like I am coming down with something Mom has me sucking on zinc and vitamin C lozenges. Yes, I do melt them all the way down.

I just replenished my supply this week. My wife used to give me them anytime she suspected a cold coming on. I haven't had a cold in years.

In the hospital last year I found out about the Lisinopril cough. Haven't been coughing nearly as much since I got that out of my regimen.

Nonetheless, I go through a lot of cough drops. Since I need to avoid sugar, Ricola Lemon Mint sugar free is my preference, because the big bags are easy to find. I have to go a little farther for the original herb flavor without sugar. If my throat is really raw I will go to Fisherman's Friend.

I usually suck them down to nothing, but it's no big deal if I don't.

3rd vote for fisherman's friend

I agree; not too tasty but it just plain works. Too bad I've misplaced the only bag of them I had.

The flavor of these, as requested by the OP, can best be described as "NASTY". Since we can't taste these little gems over the internet, the all caps and bold font denotes their intensity.

Fisherman's Friend work so well that I expect them to be outlawed one of these days as they probably have some type of controlled substance present?

I like Vick's Cherry lozenges. Hard to find around here for some reason, but I found a box last fall. Offered them to my wife when she got sick recently, she acted like I was down on one knee with diamond in hand.

That's love.

Dad kept these around for when we were ailin'. I got used to them and they have become synonymous with 'sore throat'.

A few shops nearby sell them.

PS: ifin ya wanna rip out yer fillin's, bite down on a Jolly Rancher.

Haven't seen horehound flavored for years,my grandmother used them on us as kids. They worked.
