Life has come full circle.

They are so fun to watch(W/O .22). There are a bunch in my area. I have good habitat, but never feed them.

A squirrel is a rat with furry tail. I don't feed rats. I was very surprised to find out squirrels are carnivores or at least omnivores. When I used to walk my dogs around the block the squirrels would follow us. One day I saw a squirrel sitting on a tree eating a caterpillar.

I used to feed the squirrels one day I went to feed one and it took the peanut out of my hand and then it reached over and started to smell my finger like it was trying to see if that was a peanut too and then it bit me just hard enough to draw blood and realize that my finger wasn't a peanut. I never fed another squirrel again

So true.

For the last five years I have enjoyed the dove in our back yard as well as the quail and their attics, with their young, with my wife.

We feed them and they sing to us............. seems like a fair trade off.

...I was very surprised to find out... that squirrels... are omnivores.

Wow! We all comment about learning something new on this forum...well, I just did. After confirming this on the net, it appears that squirrels occasionally practice cannibalism and infanticide as well!

Any "Dog" hunter out in open country knows this, when a high powered .22 puts parts of a "PD" into the air, to land in the area of their "Town" .........
itis now "BBQ" season, for all the little critters, to bring home the meat !

A good pellet rifle will keep you in feed and keep them returning to the bait.
