Now I know it's a bad practice to leave a handgun in a leather holster as leather hold moisture, thus rust. How about a kydex or plastic holster like a Fobus. Has anyone seen any issue? I leave my EDC in my kydex holster when I take it off and slip it back on each day. I haven't seen anything to be concerned about yet, but I thought I would ask. The weapon in mention is a SW 360 by the way.

I'd guess blued steel would be most prone to oxidation. My Shield has been in Kydex constantly for 2 1/2 years. No sign of a problem.

I would guess if it goes in dry it would be OK, but with any trace of moisture or temperature/humidity conditions that might create moisture, it would be like throwing your gun in a ziploc bag with a wet sponge. I have to worry about a gun that comes in from the cold and might be subjected to condensation so I would never do it, but it sounds like others get away with it on a regular basis.

After I clean and Oil any of My Fire Arms I also rub them down with a silicone Gun Cloth to protect the Finish so I don't see leaving one in a Kydex Holster for a long time would hurt it.

I have a blued revolver that has been stored in a leather holster since 1973, both in an air-conditioned house and several years on a boat in the tropics. Never had a rust issue.

Tradewind, do you keep your revolver's finish lubricated with silicone or similar on a fairly regular basis?

I had put my 439 away in my Front Line Kydex holster for a week, and I was not happy with the results. Nothing adverse happened to the pistol. The problem was with the holster, the fit went from snug to loose. It seems that storing the 439 in the holster robbed the Kydex of its springyness. The holster has yet to regain its snug grip.

I would NOT RECOMMEND storing your handgun in a Kydex holster.

My experience has been the opposite of lrrifleman's. I've carried a couple different Glocks in a couple different Fobus holsters for many years in my truck bag (wife calls it my purse). Never had an issue with pistol or holster . . .

My K-22 was kept in a holster for almost 50 years. No rust. Some holster wear but no rust. Knock on wood. I keep it in gun paper now.

looks like a Hunter holster. have resewed it a couple of times. about the same # of years. ^^^^. it has seen much use over the years. the snaps turn a greenish color once in a while.

Until 2 years ago when I became more interested in firearms I'm ashamed to say I did not. It was stored in a drawer and ignored. Now I keep it wiped down with a light film of Hoppes.
