Things To Do During School Break: Climb A 5.15
This past weekend, Margo Hayes, 19, from Boulder, Colorado, became the first female to send a 5.15 route, the most difficult rating in rock climbing. Congratulations Margo.
La Rambla is one of the world's most challenging sport climbs, and Hayes made it while on a study break from school in France.
Hayden Carpenter wrote in Rock and Ice:
Hayes was climbing in Spain for only 10 days during a break from school (she is studying abroad in France this year), and she went right after La Rambla. "I think once she did the moves and started making big links, it flipped a switch, and she didn't look back".
Hayes, who had come close to sending on February 25, pushed back her return flight to France to have a few more days on the climb. She only needed one.
This was a video made about her a couple of years ago.

Excellent full body workout however, I'm not climbing on anything over 3 ft tall without a parachute, ropes and a safety net

My younger brother had a dream many years ago, that he was rock climbing (which he has never, ever done). The cliff face got steeper and steeper until it was overhanging. At that point he lost his grip and as he was falling immediately thought, "What a stupid way to die!"
