Default A better mouse trap

I've heard it said, "build a better mouse trap and the world will beat a path to your door." I don't know if that's true or not because I came across this McGill Metal Products mouse trap manufactured in 1938. This thing is awesome and a whole lot better than the common Victor medal pedal mouse trap most folks have been using for the past 100+ years.

Apparently McGill made these just before WWII and they never really caught on. Anyone else ever seen one of these?

New to me, but I'm only a 1937 model.

How does it work? Guillotine action?

Kinda looks like it would make a good bottle opener too.

I won't tell you how old I am, BUT, I remember we used that type when I still wore short pants.

The Jaws on those had sort of jagged cut,,, like teeth to hold the little bugger when it closed. The one in the photo shows the jagged "Teeth" that I'm talking about, but those don't seem to be real sharp like I remember them to be.

They worked bu the ole Victor traps were the best....

While I'm at it....the ole Victor... Rat sized traps, nailed to a tree and baited were good at getting "tree rats".

Faulkner, why do you think it better than a standard mouse trap? Less flopping when the deed is done? Easier to out into tight spots? (Doubles as a cigar cutter for your visiting cigar smokin' pals?)

Interesting looking device.

Interesting trap. I am guessing it a lot more expensive than the current wood and wire traps.

This should explain it...
McGill Metal Products Co. Mousetrap - YouTube

Another video on YouTube shows small rats being caught with this device.A little voice told me it might not be appropriate here.
