Default Gander Mountain What Gives?

Riding by a Gander Mountain today I've been in before and saw the GOB Sign with up to 40 percent off! Had a few minutes to kill so I wandered in. Of course only a select few racks of clothing had 40 off. I found a couple of Plano range boxes with the removable tray missing. When I inquired if there a larger discount possible, I was told by employee that the entire inventory was owned by a liquidation company and not a Gander Mountain. He also told me they are getting in several truckloads of merchandise weekly that is selling at discounted GOB prices and some of the items are things that were never stocked in the store. He didn't know if was Gander Mountain merchandise or from somewhere else. Guess that's a good way to dump stuff.

Went by the local going out of business GM yesterday also....

No joy there, sign said no discount on ammo or firearm sales.

They won't be missed too awful much in my neck of the woods.

Also stopped by couple of days ago. 5 and 10 percent off is NOT "going out of business-everything must go!" It's BS.

Laketime already said it...they can't even go out of business without price gouging. Geez!

It's all being run by a liquidation company and they do bring in goods from other liquidations that they want to get rid of

Such a shame.

I remember ordering out of their catalog, in the 1990's.

Back then it seemed that they had good products, at a good price.

And that's alright with me but put a liquidation price on it.

I say good riddance to them. Miserable excuse for a store.

I stopped by our Chattanooga Gander going out of business store a few days ago. The store is stuffed with junk stacked up on the floor everywhere. I don't know where it all came from but they've obviously been bringing in a lot more than has been going out the last few weeks.

We went in one of our Local stores not too long ago to check out the "savings" gun stuff was still to high but did manage to get some other stuff and got a better price than I could find anywhere else for my boat so was happy with that.
the guy we are dealing with said that Camping world bought the name and buildings and liquidation company bought all of the inventory.
the stores will be called Gander Outdoors once its all final. the stores for the most part will stay there but will be more about camping and outdoors type activities. I see it being similar to Dicks Sporting goods but who knows.

They opened one last year here. First big box gun store in this area. Bad location. There are 4 other gun stores near by and one is a mile away and all have far far better selection and prices. Stopped in on opening day, saw the prices and walked out! Incredibly expensive

I actually liked Gander, but I'm not going in for any of this nonsense. GM is already gone. Buy from some liquidation company at your own risk. I'll pass.

The staff at the store in Johnstown, PA was always rude and completely uninterested in helping anybody except their high roller buddies who were dumb enough to spend $$$$$ per year there. We had issues every time we visited the store.

When my wife was still fishing, we asked multiple employees for help with items in the rod & reel section. They kept telling us the representative for that department had been paged. Finally I got disgusted and went to the gun counter where there were several employees around a guy in an Armani suit. I bluntly interrupted them and asked if any of them were from the fishing department. Two were. They said they would be over "when they were done looking at vacation photos" (guy in the suit).

My wife and I left. I emailed corporate regarding the incident. The store manager called and left a rude message on my cell phone saying he didn't appreciate my contacting corporate over a "minor inconvenience".

Several months later we went in the store on the first day of a major ammo sale, early in the day too. Funny NONE of the ammo in the flyer was out for purchase. I had to wait in line at the gun counter nearly 20 minutes just to ask where the sale ammo was. Well, it was still in the tractor trailer behind the store and he wasn't sure when it would be unloaded and stocked. I drove 35 miles to get there. So, I decided to look at some used handguns so the trip wasn't a total waste. After examining just two guns, I asked to see a third. Guy says " Look, are you going to finger up every gun I have in the case!"
I told him to bleep himself and left.

I emailed corporate again, mainly to complain about the "ammo is still in the truck" story. I get a call from the store manager who was the rude idiot who made the finger up the gun comment. Let's just say our conversation didn't go well and I emailed corporate the results of the call. The manager then called my house at least twice a day for a week while I was at work, leaving a message to call him immediately. I never did, and I never went into another Gander Mountain store.

Gander can't price gouge on inventory that they don't own and don't price. The liquidators, responsible for that, were the winning bidders in Bankruptcy Court.

Dicks as well. Ive spent less than $25.00 at the one here-and its been open around 3 years. Ive no log on the fire with Gander--as we don't have one here-and never been in one but agree-they did it to themselves. I'm waiting for that to happen at Dicks.
