Went to jump school at Benning in July 1969, the song was:

I want to be an Airborne Ranger

The other one I remember was: C-130 going down the strip
Airborne Daddy gone take a little trip

If I die on the old drop zone
Box me up and ship me home

I was the only Navy in my class but there were about a dozen ANGLICO Marines. Caught the usual flack.

Just remembered another one which the jump master sang out whenever we passed a non-parachutist.

Since we did more drinking than we did marching,
We had a bunch of drinking songs.
Had a Squadron Commander who wanted all of them written down and put into a book.
So just The space ship guy - he said Make it so!

I remember we had some pretty raunchy ones in ROTC high school. Counted off when no faculty officers nearby although one or two didn't mind.

What? I never even saw anybody march like that, let alone do it myself.
Unless there was a different level of marching in the Airborne, and I mean really different, that's purely Hollywood.

We didn't miss each other by much. I was there in October 1968. Was the food still horrible? The mess hall lines were long and they were always running out of food. Never saw anything like that anywhere else.
