CADENCE SONGS

Two old ladies lying in bed...
One rolled over to the other and said...
"I wanna be an Airborne Ranger!"...
"Live a life of guts and danger"...
"I'm gonna cut off all my hair"...
"So I can wrestle a grizzly bear"...
(I don't remember the rest of it)

Went to jump school at Benning in July 1969, the song was:

I want to be an Airborne Ranger
I want to live a life of danger
I want to go to Viet Nam
I want to get me a Charlie Cong
Here we go , here we go
All the way, all the way
Airborne, airborne
Everyday, everyday

The other one I remember was: C-130 going down the strip
Airborne Daddy gone take a little trip
Stand-up, hook-up, shuffle to the door
Jump right out and count to four

If that main don't open wide
I got another one by my side
If that one should fail me too
Look out below, I'm coming thru

If I die on the old drop zone
Box me up and ship me home
Pin my wings upon my chest
And bury me in the leaning rest

I was the only Navy in my class but there were about a dozen ANGLICO Marines. Caught the usual flack.

Just remembered another one which the jump master sang out whenever we passed a non-parachutist.

On the right, on the right
Dirty leg, dirty leg
Can't run, can't run
Can't fight, can't fight
No good, no good

Man, some of those bring back the memories.

Oh Jody boy, riding down the avenue
Six more weeks and I'll be through
I'll be glad and so will you
Oh Jody boy, riding in his Cadillac
Ain't no use in looking back
You're mother was there when you left, your right
You're father was there when you left, your right
Jody was there when you left, your right

I don't know but I been told
Something something mighty cold :)

Late at night while you're sleepin
Charlie Cong comes a creepin
around

Stand up, hook up
Shuffle to the door
Jump right out
and count to four
