Commie Bebop
I've waited for a couple of days to post this, hoping someone else would as I wasn't sure I could stay in bounds.
Its all over social media, twitter and some of the other gun forums. Also on Fox News and The New York Post.
Apparently a now 2nd LT, Spenser Rapone, posted two photos on twitter in support of Kaepernick and the NFL kneeling protest. In one photo Rapone is in West Point Cadet uniform holding his cover with a sign inside saying, "Communism will win". The second photo is of him again in cadet uniform wearing a Che Guevara tee shirt under his uniform jacket. Also posted photos of him holding a Communist Manifesto and one showing his " Democratic Socialist of America" membership card on top of his military camo jacket with the CIB, jump wings and Air Assault Badge.
Apparently Rapone was Army enlisted before getting appointment to West Point.
He has a twitter profile as "punkproletarian" and a twitter posting under Commie Bebop.
He has managed to arouse the wrath of veterans everywhere. Some have sent letters of protest to West Point, the CO of his command and to the Congressman who appointed him to West Point.
I thought I had seen enough of this BS lately but this takes the cake.

And Chelsea was recently denied admission to Canada, of all places, based upon her/his/its criminal history. Imagine that.

Discharge seems to be the only option. After all, he did take an oath to honor and defend the constitution of the United States. Afraid he's not alone. Remember the Army officer who killed so many at Fort Hood. Same kind, not a true American.

My college football coach and one of the assistant coaches had been Marine drill instructors and who also had seen action in the Pacific during WW2. I can only imagine what they would have to say. I don't know why this Rapone guy is still at West Point.

I believe the official term is "Conduct Unbecoming an Officer" and yes, you can be Court Martial-ed for it.
If he's unhappy now, wait until he tries to get a job with a Dis-Honorable Discharge.

WHERE'S ROGER GOODELL WHEN NEEDED?
The NFL rulebook regarding expected player conduct during the national anthem IS VERY CLEAR. Not sure what Kap has to feel oppressed about, was it the free ride at college, or the millions of $'s to play/behave in a very certain manner. 16 Games a season, fine him 1/16 of his salary and bench him for each offense. That sounds fair to me.

He may be right. Communism only needs enough “useful idiots” to prevail … of which, America seems to have an overabundance right now.

Actually, after reading up on the stuff this clown has pulled, I see mostly an overabundance of people with no sense of humor.
Seriously, even if this guy is for real, how can you do anything but laugh about this? Che Guevara t-shirt under his West Point uniform? "Communism will win" scrawled inside his cap?
And based on that I find a blog headline "US Army infiltrated by Communists!" Ouch.
Even if the guy means it, this isn't a conspiracy, it's a joke. Some things are best dealt with by just ridiculing them.

As someone who has served in the Army I find this very disturbing. I had a commander who was a West Point grad in the late 1980s that I would consider left leaning on the subject of gun ownership. Over the years I have noticed news stories of current or former military officers that make the news expressing left wing views are academy graduates.
Communists have been trying to gain influence in America for decades. I do not see this event as a joke, it's very serious. I hope this officer receives a dishonorable discharge.

Agree with your perspective, but, in the end, this person should probably not even be in the military. He certainly shouldn't be a commissioned officer. Not just the clothing, but all the stuff on the net. He is NOT officer material.

With combat and leadership training, now he's going to have a job with the antifa, organizing armed rebellion. Trained on our dime. I sure hope he doesn't meet with any unfortunate training accidents before his dishonorable discharge.

Since he's already commissioned, the only recourse may be fitness reports; his photos from West Point could be used as "Conduct Unbecoming..." specifications, if the statute of limitations has lapsed.
He may not have a long military life, especially if he gets passed over for 1st Lieutenant.

The 2LT’s actions are under investigation by the Army. Officers are prohibited from engaging in any type of politcal behavior while in uniform. West Point statement is here:

This looks to me like a guy who got a West Point education and
wants to skate on his obligation. If he gets drummed out he will
have hero status with the Left. I'm going to guess the guy is not
dumb, reguardless of his motives he must figure there will be no
prison time involved. The system has been weakened over the
years. The MCJ has gone the same way as our civilian laws with
reguard to sentencing. The bright side of all this type stuff is it
is getting so over the top that it is going to backfire on them.

Highly unlikely he would get jail time since no lives or sensitive info at risk. He more likely would face the revocation of his commission and get a dishonorable discharge. Even if he is retained in the Army, he will not likely have a career, and, if he gets off lighter, he can look forward to being passed over as a 1LT at least for a long time.

Hey!
The Army needs "Latrine Inspection Officers".
4 yrs in that position as a 2nd Lt with bad OERs should look good on a resume.

Rolling Stone magazine had a piece on West Point cadets a few
years back.
Quite a few cadets freely admitted (with names included in the article) that the only reason they were there was to get a free engineering degree. They said they'd do their obligated time and get out, and had zero interest in serving in the Army.

That does not surprise me but I wonder what “quite a few” means as a %. There have always been people who became officers for reasons of benefit after obligation met. If they honorably complete their obligation, I say: they served.
As for those who serve with dishonor I say good riddance no matter what it cost to prepare them.

This is exactly why I think this is a skate job. He is banking on
being drummed out, no sentence. The Public display of his
antics is designed to get him out of his commitment. The Army
will be hard pressed to keep him in and give him crummy
duties.

What duties would he be trying to get out off when he already served at least one tour as an enlisted. In another article it was said his views changed after he came back from his tour in Afghanistan. So he's either legit or making some kind of a statement only he understands
"Spenser tried to join West Point straight out of high school but was not accepted. Spenser then enlisted in the Army and deployed to Afghanistan after which point he again applied to West Point. This time around, West Point accepted him.
“It’s my belief when he returned back from Afghanistan there was a notable difference in his political views,” Richard L. Rapone said.

While I am of the opinion one can be a left of center loyal american to a right of center loyal american... In FAIRNESS I can see where some of his anti-american pro communist rhetoric comes from.
ONE, well they WON the cold war didn't they. He is just joining those who rushed out to buy Cubs and Patriots jerseys AFTER they won.
TWO, the great HUMANITARIAN efforts the Soviets engaged in, Poland 1940, Ukraine Bulgaria Lithuania Romania et al in 1944-45, Berlin 1953, Budapest 1956, Prague 1968, Afganistan 1979.
THREE, his view is shared by those who flooded FROM WEST BERLIN TO EAST, in 1961 forcing the D Democratic R to build a WALL to keep them out. Those thousands who FLOODED out of Miami to sail TO CUBA in 1980, and who still make that jorney south in spte of the risks. The tide of humanity that SNUCK INTO CZECHOSLOVAKIA in 1989 to cross the border INTO EAST GERMANY. Oh I remember how stirring it was hearing M Gorby say "tear down the west side throughway".

I take a certain amount of malicious amount of satisfaction in that he's West Point, not ROTC. When someone says that he is an advocate of Marx and Lenin I subtract 50 points from their IQ. And he's 50 years behind the times, it's coming up on 26 years since the "Socialist Motherland" went into the "dustbin of history."

In Viet-Nam, I always put the malcontents "on point" during patrols in "indian" country.
Solved the problem.

I recall reading an an interview with Carol Burnett, when she complained to a younger TV producer about the quality of TV programming, he told her we've had a couple generations grow up watching TV-"They don't know life, they only know it at one remove."
I won't have him under me as an enlisted man. But that's how they should deal with him.

I think he's the perfect candidate for a secret mission to North Korea. Of course it needs to be leaked to the main stream media so they can be there with cameras and microphones when he lands.

Commie Bebop sounds like a great name for an indie band, redolent with hipster irony.

Indeed, it solved the malcontent problem. New guys to my platoon learned real fast that if they got out of line they would be in front at the next opportunity for me to dend them there. When a new guy was assigned to a fire team the team leader would warn them that the Gunny was a bull and if you mess up you will get the horn. It was an amazingly effective way to keep the lid on the platoon.

Looks to me like he's pulling a Klinger. Instead of women's clothes it's Che shirts. I agree with the sentiment of letting him out of his contract but since the breach is unilateral, he should repay for his education.
