Sure beats the daylights out of my Aeronca Champ 65hp flat out at about 75 or 80 mph!! But I could also stay in the air at less than 40mph.

I heard him speak at a lunch I attended a few years ago. That guy is very funny. His story is simply amazing!

I spoke to this gentleman several times when I worked on the SR-71 in the 80's. He's definitely got a sense of humor. He has a way of capturing your attention and making you laugh.

The first SR 71 I saw was on the ground at a USAF base in the southern US in 1969 .. I escorted the pilot because of the high security clearance I had ..
At the time I didn't know I would watch many more fly over a far northern over seas base I would be at 2 years later as they returned from flights over Russia ..
An unusual story on the Blackbird .. The airplane is 92% titanium inside and out. and most of that metal came from the USSR the country it was built to spy on ..
