Costco Returns Money For Childrens Miracle Network Because The Donation Came From A Gun Company

"Recently, a company called Sacramento Black Rifle was given back their check to Costco for a banner in their store. The money would be donated by Costco to the Childrens Miracle Network, a non-profit that sends money to hospitals to help save and improve the lives of as many children as possible.

But apparently, a few people being offended by a banner have stopped this from happening. Actually, it seems that its Costco itself who doesn't want this dirty gun money."

The donation was clearly about the advertising: the Sacramento Black Gun folks would have gotten a banner displayed at the stores advertising their donation to the cause.

If the donation was about the children, it could have been made directly to the charity instead of Costco.

Costco apparently didn’t want to give the Black Gun folks an advertising platform in their stores.

I would feel better about Sacremento Black Rifle if there was an announcement that the company had now directly donated the refused funds to Children's Miracle Network . . .

That would be my point exactly.

Discriminating against a gun store’s advertising because Costco doesn’t like the logo is one thing, and could legitimately be protested (although, as a private property rights issue, they can do whatever).

But the gun store and gun blogs shouldn’t be the ones dragging in the children as a tear-jerker. That’s just cheap, and misses the point.

"Sure, it may cost the lives of a few kids, but think of how politically correct we will appear!"

That's my cheap and point-missing take on the situation.;)

Costco made a decision that was in the best interest of their share holders as they are arguably legally required to do. I would write the same if Costco declined to display a banner advertising an anti-gun group. They avoided alienating some of their shoppers. This is not the same as refusing to sell their huge packages of stuff to either side or posting no guns are allowed in their stores. It is all about retaining the largest number of customers.

Seems to me, the gun store didn't drag "the children" in, Costco did.
If I was that gun shops owner, I'd repurpose that donation to NRA-ILA, in total.

MORE BUSINESS/ADVERTISING THAN CHARITY.

Neither of their hands are clean. Shame on both of them. Black Guns could VERY PUBLICLY re-donate directly & still get some of their publicity. Maybe a warm & fuzzy video of disabled kids getting one of those 6'checks. Scuze me while I hurl. :(
