I just got off the phone with a CT rep to place my request for my annual batteries for life advertised promise. Well it appears that said promise has been modified by CT , a subsidiary of Smith & Wesson who is now a subsidiary of American Outdoor Brands.

Instead of calling in annually for your batteries you now must go to their Website and complete a rather onerous form for each laser and submit one by one. Not bad if you own 1 or 2 lasers but if you own a great deal more that, therein lies the problem. Each form now requires the specific laser product, it’s serial number, the name of the retailer you purchased it from, and the date of the purchase- and there may be a few other questions. Maybe you keep S/N’s of your lasers, records of each retailer and specific date!- Frankly I cannot remember that stuff much less taking the time to research and fill out all their forms one by one.

All I can say is that it is a terrific way to promise the batteries for life and never have to deliver on it. It WAS nice doing business with you CT!

And an additional comment-after I was finished expressing my displeasure with the new policy the gentleman admitted that this was not going well with the customers calling in but this feedback going up the chain was going on deaf ears with the attitude of “tough”

Good point Ben. But a another perfect example of a growing conglomerate flexing its muscle on the new affiliates to sacrifice what was top notch customer service in lieu of corporate profits. Hasn’t worked so far-just look at the performance of AOBC stock. Maybe a management change?

Guess one good thing is that I really was a CT fan but I freed that
loyalty to now look at other laser products.

Thanks for the information!
Last time I needed a battery under the lifetime deal, I called and one was mailed to me, though this was several years ago.
Just had to confirm my address.

BATTERIES FOR LIFE WAS JUST A MARKETING DEVICE. I'm sure that when S&W's bean-counters looked at CT's battery costs they just said, this has to stop.So they put in restrictions so one one will ever come back for a free battery. Typical of current business in this day and age. They want your money, but they don't really think about you as a repeat customer. I personally gave up on CT a couple of years ago when I saw I could get a good laser from another manufacturer for half the price.

The batteries are inexpensive. Certainly "free" batteries are not worth the time and trouble to jump trough those hoops.

What bothers me is that ANYTHING put in a computer data base can be turned over to the Gov't. If some time if the future it is decided that Crimson Trace Lasers are just as bad a the handguns on which they mount, a Gov't. official using the computer data base information will know on whose door to knock to find them. How do you think the BATF knew exactly where to go when the Street Sweeper shotguns were declared to be contraband! The manufacturer's computer shipping records.

I buy products for their performance and because they meet my needs, not because of advertising gimmicks.

The two CT laser grips I’ve had in use on my carry guns haven’t needed new batteries after a few years’ use yet, and if and when they do, I suspect I won’t remember what I read here, and just spend a few bucks for batteries I know will be fresh ;)

I've lost count of the years I've been buying and using Crimson Trace Red Laser Grips and Laserguard models. I have received a good many "free batteries in that time. But I expected this "perk" to be one of the first to go when CT changed hands. Haven't bought but one used model lately, and the first one I bought years ago is still perking right along. They work for me and fill my needs for them very well. Doubt I'll be buying too many more of them since I've got about all I need, absent some new firearm that I might accidentally aquire! As Absalom has stated, these products meet my needs, so no more "free" batteries will not cause me to buy another CT product if the need arises. Not many things stay the same forever!

I have a number of the CT laser on various firearms, I've only gotten the free batteries once and that was several years ago.

I certainly don';t have the retailers name, even if I had some of the other information.

But, as others have said, the batteries are so cheap that I likely would not bother to call anyway.

I do call for my free batteries for the 4 Home Depot purchased Ridgid drills I own, but they are really expensive.
