I would say you triggered an algorithm in the system that flagged you for multiple purchases of the same gun.

Bass Pro is absolutely the WORST place to buy a gun in the USA..
I ordered a G19 on their website.. "ready for pickup".. I drive over there at 1:00pm and at 3:45 the line only moved 5 spaces up. I told everyone I'll go pay more at the local FFL. Also, local PD was videotaping everyone waiting in the line
Wound up ordering from Kygunco to my FFL and picked it right up. Saved money too.
BassPro's gun section is just a trick to make people walk around and buy other stuff. It's literally a 3-5 hour wait here in Florida to pick up any prepaid for firearm online.
I've bought cars at a dealership faster than that.

To the OP: unless you have gun friendly media nearby, you're done. If you could get the media to drag them through the mire some, but the chances are low.

While there is no excuse for the wait time buying a firearm at Bass Pro or Cabela's I understand them handing it to you outside the store.
IMO obviously a woke corporate policy thinking you'll buy ammo for the firearm while waiting and then shoot up the store employees on exiting. Of course there's nothing stopping you from loading the firearm in your car and coming back inside.
If one is hellbent on causing chaos it might be easier at a box store than at your FFL where everyone is armed.

Gun friendly media? It would be easier to find a Sasquatch riding a unicorn.
1). Just go someplace else. Problem solved! The stuff you're buying can be found anywhere in mass quantities.
2). I vigorously dispute your claim that Academy is a "real gun store". They're just another "big box" store that sells entry-level guns. They are to guns what Harbor Freight is to tools.
Likewise, their staff are ignorant zombies.
A "real gun store" should offer things like reloading equipment and supplies, and employ sales staff that have knowledge and experience with these same products. Better yet, they should also have a halfway competent gunsmith on staff.
Sadly, and I know all to well from personal experience, you'll be hard pressed to find any of this in South Carolina.

I don't normally engage on comments like this but I can't pass on these:
Going somewhere else is a bit difficult for me since the nearest gun stores are 60 miles away in Columbia. I now buy most of my guns online.
Academy may not be a "real" gun store but they do carry a lot of in stock name brand guns plus accessories and ammo. Just like any other gun store, if they don't have it in stock, you can always order it online and it will be drop shipped from Lipseys and delivered within two days.
Comparing Academy to Harbor Freight is an apples and oranges comparison. Harbor Freight sells mostly off-brand Chinese stuff (some junk, some not so junk). You can buy any name brand gun through Academy. I have purchased Sig, H&K, Beretta, Smith and Wesson, and Ruger. I wouldn't call these entry level guns although you can find the junkers like Hi-Point, SCCY, and Taurus.
The staff at my Academy are typical of those in any gun store. Some are good and some aren't so good. The only real gun store in my area closed several years mainly because of its ignorant staff.
Lastly, I agree that having a gunsmith is important, but you can't find one in most gun stores today.
Sounds like I'm defending the same company that I'm criticizing. Maybe I am.
Its all in how one chooses to look at it. I could feel honored by being singled out for "special treatment". On the other hand, if I bought as many guns at that store as the OP did, I should be miffed if they did not give me a special discount!

That's easy to figure out. The profile of your purchases is common to straw-purchases. They don't have to have any proof of anything. If they have reasonable cause to believe you might be involved in such a thing they are duty-bound to refuse you by BATFE rules.
If they are wrong they lose a customer. If they keep selling to you and the BATF shows up because they were indeed straw-purchases they are in big trouble. In the current environment of heightened enforcement they'll lose their FFL.
I recently worked part-time at a large national chain. We were told to refuse anything we thought might, even remotely, be a straw-purchase. They'd back us up. We refused stuff all the time. In the three months I was there I refused half a dozen. It was a weekly thing for the entire staff.
The large retailers with multiple locations have computer systems that track these things and flag them. You get flagged, you're done. A lot of the refusals came from the system. I'd say more than half.

The words of somebody who has not lived at the far end of the supply line or beyond. We have quite a few gun stores in Vegas, but for new stuff I suspect they are all tied to the same distributor and there seems to be a remarkable similarity in the price tags across town. Gosh, wonder how that happened.
So, now the cry goes up, 'Go to the next town!' Well, I suggest y'all consult a map of Nevada and pay close attention to the distance scale.
If you want to handle before you buy, the choice can be thin here. Yes, everything is available online, but then the game starts finding a dealer who charges a reasonable transfer fee. Many here are obviously trying to tax you for not buying through them.
I wouldn't. Unless you have lots and lots of lawyer cash available. It's not worth it and they do have the right not to sell you a firearm AFAIK.
