Anybody else here into luxury watches? I'll start, I've always been a watch collector. I used to collect solid gold vintage watches but grew bored with them and sold them all off and started collecting stuff more up to date.

I've always liked Rolex, but Omegas, drool! I've always wanted an Omega.

I never imagined I'd finally buy a watch that cost as much as a used car, but alas, one fell in my lap (at a great price) and I couldn't resist.

Enter my (NOS condition) Omega, Speedmaster with the 1151 mvt. I finally found the NOS original Omega alligator strap on ebay for a song, at the Omega Boutique you can walk in and plop down $800 for this strap if you can't wait or you can find them online for about $275 and up with a ton of research, they're almost impossible to find. I got very lucky myself and only had to fork up $80 to someone that was letting theirs go because they never used it and no longer needed it. Now I'm on the hunt for the fold over clasp that goes with it, so the search continues. Omega wants $400 for the clasp, but I know I can find an original one online for a lot less. You have to use OEM parts to retain the value of any luxury watch.

Lets see what you're into, I know some of you have some nice watches based on the guns you post.

Nice shot of your hand! lol
Me too, only one luxury watch at this point (I'm down to 8 watches myself).
Nice Rolex too, bet you wished you'd held onto the solid gold Omega now? Depending which one you had, I believe they're up to around 20k or more if it was a special edition now?

Caught a bodacious deal on a Rolex Submariner (stainless dive watch) back in the mid-1980's. Used that for the last 9 years of my law enforcement career, then for another 10 years of rough life around construction sites.

After 19 years the Rolex needed a new stainless bracelet, new crystal, the bezel was banged up enough to call for a replacement, and a general servicing. Authorized Rolex service center wanted $550 to do the job.

Sold the Rolex for $2100 (exactly $1000 more than I paid for it 19 years earlier), purchased a new Seiko quartz for under $120.

The Rolex kept pretty good time, but could not compare with the Seiko quartz. Rolex required resetting every 2-3 weeks (off by +/- 2 minutes), but the Seiko required resetting only when changing to or from daylight savings time.

About 10 years later I retired and took my watch off for good. I will get there when I get there!

There's not a manual watch in existence that will keep time like a quartz watch, but then the manuals are a lot more than about keeping perfect time too as you know. They were never cheap, but might wanna get an evaluation on that Sub, some of the vintage models are worth a small fortune now.

I've got a stainless Tag my wife bought me for our 25th anniversary. I wear it on Sundays mostly. Other times I wear a black Luminox.

th
My next watch I want is a Breitling, unless something else just comes across my radar at a good price. One of my favorite watches is my Seiko Sportura Fly-Back, not an expensive watch per say, I only paid a little over $650 for it, but it sure gets a lot of attention when I wear it. It has a SS band too.

I was very tempted to enter this world about 35 years ago, with a new Rolex or Omega.(and gave up wearing a watch 30 years ago)
No doubt that those who appreciate a precision gun, also enjoy other fine mechanical things.
I then learned that they should receive maintenance every few years, which could be expensive. That dissuaded me,especially after I inquired with Longines (in the 1980s) about having my mother's late 40s diamond watch repaired. Longines said to send it to Switzerland with a check for $300, and they would determine if it was fixable ...and if they had the parts. A chunk of loot, with no assurance that they could fix it.
I suppose that I hate to be at someone's mercy about having something expensive fixed, so I like simpler things that I can fix myself or easily buy a new replacement.
To me, the fun of the expensive watch world, seems to be what it is for the posters here. Not buying new, but getting a bargain/no lose situation on a used one.

I "Hack Set" all of my manual watches so I rarely am off more than a few seconds over a course of time.
If you dont, you will gain or lose seconds (minutes) over a quartz

My best watch story is of course-
Traded a woodstove for a black powder frame Colt SA.
It Was worn in a movie - Lonely Are the Brave.
Traded the Colt for a Breitling Tungsten Watch.
Traded the Watch for a Walther PP and money.
Sold the PP.
Yes, I have thought I should have kept the watch.
But I still have a Rolex President and a Tag That I hardly ever wear.

My mother gifted my dad this ACCUTRON by BULOVA back in the late 1960's. He wore it only for dress up occasions. I had to replace the original action because a jewel had somehow broken off. Parts are no longer available for it. The action in it now is the same ACCUTRON time period and face but only has the day date not the month and day date the original had.
It isn't a Rolex but I have had many complements on it.

Hit Like button only because there's no LOVE button! You're the man ditrina! Wow, what an impressive collection. How long has it taken you to acquire all those beauties? What's not to love about the Roly's, but that Omega Speedy Chronographer, wow! But, I'm a little biased towards the Omegas and that one's in beautiful shape too.

That's a very desirable watch by the way, also very important to watch history too. It can be made perfect again if you wanted to invest a little in it.

I just look at my phone lock screen.....
Trust me, you wouldn't get spending several thousands on a watch then, it'd be a waste to you, buy more guns. lol
Stay with the phone. haha

Luminox

I’ve had my trusty Luminox for almost 15 years. It needs relamping and could use a good cleaning, but it has stood up to the daily punishment I put it through and still looks great. I’m on my fourth battery and I’ve never had a watch last longer than two batteries.

Maybe not 'luxury'....

...but I would like a good, handmade, classic watch. What I would really like is a good, handmade classic pocket watch.

I'd like these things but I don't wear a watch. (my phone has a clock). Still, just like a nicely made gun, I'd like a nicely made watch.
