Luxury Watches

Can't bring my Scottish/frugal/cheap self to spend more than about $300 for a watch...... that said I've been wearing Seiko mechanical dive watch since about 1989.

About a decade ago I got myself a Seiko solar dive chronograph for weekends..... added a NATO band.... it's great time keeper.

Due to the nature of my work and play, I have to resist any urge towards luxury and stick with Timex==I have to replace my watches at least once a year.

Stop sticking your arm in the bear's mouth! We need a thread on what "which watch holds up best to a bear attack?" Or perhaps "which will pass through the digestive tract easiest and be most likely found by your heirs?"

I don't call it a luxury watch.

I just call it my watch.

I can do without a cellphone. Feel naked without a wrist watch.

Hit Like button only because there's no LOVE button! You're the man ditrina! Wow, what an impressive collection. How long has it taken you to acquire all those beauties? What's not to love about the Roly's, but that Omega Speedy Chronographer, wow! But, I'm a little biased towards the Omegas and that one's in beautiful shape too.

Thank you sir! The Datejust was my first one given to me by my wife for my 40th birthday.
( I turned 72 this month);):D

Mind if I participate?

Here's my latest, Sinn 206 Arktis II.

This is my Seiko 6105-8119 which I recently got back from Jack at IWW.

Bought this one in March, scratching a 20 year itch for one - just like the Sinn was. Seiko SBDX023 Marinemaster 300.

This is a Seiko Alpinist I picked up late last year. 1.7+ per day after regulation - just like my Marinemaster. It's on a Strapcode bracelet, just like my Marinemaster. :)

I have had one of these since 2003, it was my daily wear until I got the Marinemaster and Sinn. Stock photo.

I bought a Sub Date 16800 in 1982, wore it till I got the Yacht-Master. I will give it to my daughter's fiancee when they get married.

So, there's others, but I will save them for later.

I've had my trusty Luminox for almost 15 years. It needs relamping and could use a good cleaning, but it has stood up to the daily punishment I put it through and still looks great. I'm on my fourth battery and I've never had a watch last longer than two batteries.

Only four? I have a Cleveland Indians Chief Wahoo Bulova watch that I'm sure I've put at least 10 batteries in. Of course, I bought it in 1994 and have been wearing it ever since.

I would like to have a Rolex one day, just because I like quality watches. Until then I'll just have to get by with my Hamilton's, Benrus's, Waltham's, Gruens and others. My everyday watch is a 1960's vintage Benrus automatic that I got for next to nothing at an auction years ago. I almost bought a pre-owned Rolex a few years ago, but ended up buying a Olds Cutlass Supreme instead. The Olds cost less than the Rolex.

Here's a few...

I will add a few pics to the hairy arm collection....

I have several premium watches but I still like to sport my Seiko with Pepsi dial quite often. I replaced the original bracelet with a solid link version sold by Strapcode. With the new bracelet, it feels like a serious piece of hardware.

Great looking watches everyone!

Some of mine but I do not consider them "luxury", more tools (a bit expensive as Swiss tools tend to be). I wear them everywhere, including when shooting. So far none was upset by recoil. Afterwards they get washed to get off the range dust.

First one: a Breiting Avenger Chrono, a LE 1 of 1,000 (a detail that really does not add anything to value). In Breitling's 'Blacksteel' finish which makes them look like matte gun metal and reason for me to like the finish.
In what world is Breitling NOT considered a luxury watch? I want the Chronomat myself too. You have a great collection also!

I've often thought about getting a Rolex or similar, especially when killing time in an airport, but always talk myself out of it. I like collecting watches as souvenirs, but usually stay in the $50 to $400 range. Since the whole cell phone thing, for me watches have become an anachronism or novelty...or a souvenir. Fitbit not withstanding, my latest watch is an Isobrite that I picked up at the last NRA conference.

My "no so bright" cousin has worn this watch for several years now, never shutting up about how rare it is and brags to everyone. Brags that is is the only watch he's ever seen made in Oklahoma as it says "OKIES" on bottom of the face. At a recent family gathering I got tired of his bragging and turned the watch right side up (SEIKO), ha, ha (not really)

When I owned that Breitling for 2-3 hours,
I certainly thought it was a Luxury Watch.
And the dude who bugged me and kept increasing the Boot on the trade for the PP certainly thought so.
What time it is?
Look at your Phone.
Thats Boulder Atomic Time

Few years ago an an older man used to set-up close to
me at one of the local gunshows.
Mostly watches and a few Colt SAA's.

He had a nice collection of watches and did a brisk business.
He talked into a "MIDO" watch...still have it somewhere around
here.
