After flying "crew" in a B-17, B-24, and B-25, and visualizing how it would have been in an arial combat situation, I realized that the 17-18 year old boys manning the .50 caliber guns in those bombers were truly some of the bravest men in American history. I wanted to recognize and remember them with my screen name.
In remembrance of my Grandpa, Staff Sgt. Robert C. Ellenwood 1920-2007, US Army Corps of Engineers, New Guinea 1942-43, and all of our WW2 Veterans, living and dead.

I'm on some engraving sites and a scrimshaw forum . I sell a little of both there and e-bay so I thought CAR-VER would fit me . I have sold some scrimshaw grips and a few engraved silver coins here .

In almost every forum I have ever been a member of, my forum name has always been Lesmith. Larry Edward Smith = Lesmith. Being some what slow at times it never entered my mind that I was joining a "Smith" & Wesson forum here and that LE stood for Law Enforcement. So picking Lesmith as my name here was sort of stupid.

My handle is BUMMER, that's what my father-in-law calls my son. I desided to use it because most people call me other names that cannot be used in a public forum

Rancid Crabtree. I'm a big fan of Patrick McManus. I initially tried to use Retch as a username in honor of Retch Sweeney, but Lee thought I was being crude. R Crabtree it is...although I consider myself to be more akin to Sweeney

BoB the palindorme. Relatively self explanatory even though in the truest sense not a palindorme such as the Canadian, "A race car a." Idea came from a song by Riders In The Sky, "Palindorme, Palindrome, what's in a name. Palindrome, Palindorme both ways the same." Sung to the tune of the old TV show Paladin.

bayfisher is self explanatory to those who know me. I live less than a 100 yds from the gulf of mexico. still i enjoy fishing galveston bay than going offshore in my 19 ft. bay stealth. I have spent 3 days out of the last 5 fishing (trying to get it out of my system before the labor day weekend) Nobody with any sense wants to be caught in a holiday weekend at the boat ramps. Thats why i went to the range for three hours today.

Vegetaman is based off a television show I used to watch when I was 12 or 13, called DBZ. I don't watch it anymore, but I've used the username for so long and in so many places, I've hung onto it.

Well, I'm from Missouri and Spouse says I can be a little stubborn (could she be right??) but I chose 'mule' because the critters don't stop once they're on task. (Pepe LePew just didn't fit well with MO.)
Lots of entertaining stories associated with screen names. I found the "Iggy" story moving. Good folks on this board.

My name, and usual signon: Colin, was already taken so I chose Cyrano. Same initial. I have a large probosculum like the original Cyrano, although I'm not as good a swordsman as was Edmond Rostand's character, nor as good a philosopher as the historical Cyrano.

I was going to use Bigreddogs cause that's what I use on GB but that didn't happen and now I don't think I should change what I'm using, which is first four letters of my last name and zip code. Original huh?

It means nothing. When I set up my ebay account, this was the 7th or 8th screen name I tried (Babalooey was already taken).
Babalooey was Quick Draw Mc Graw's sidekick in a Hanna Barberra cartoon show from my misspent youth.
Wherever I go on the internet, I'm "Babalooie." It's easier to type than Zielinski.
Besides, "CAJUNLAWYER" was already taken.

My highest score in a registered NRA conventional pistol (bullseye) match, and my way of saying thank you to Gunnery Sergeant Michael Curtis, USMC (Ret.), who helped me to become a passable slow-fire competitor, and to Sergeant Rick Rodriguez, USMC (Ret.), for giving me the opportunity to compete against the very best and reach my potential. I learned a heckuva lot more from these men than simply how to make little holes in paper targets.

Peyton was my Malamute, constant companion and protector of the realm when I was gone with the Army. My son and daughters would go for a walk every day, being drug by her. I asked my son how he decided where to walk and he said, "Peyton decides, I am just the guy attached by the leash".
Peyton died this last March, she is missed. My wife got a couple of lap dogs and they are just a couple of yappers.

A nickname going back to High School, if not Junior High. If you see it just about anywhere then it's more than likely me, I use it alot. My name is Rich, I've always been a pretty big guy, and 315 is the number "they" printed on the back of my neck...

I was working for Meggitt Defense Systems/Caswell when I joined the forum. MDS/Caswell is one of the largest manufacturers of shooting range equipment in the country. I was working as a field tech installing and maintaining law enforcement and military ranges in between aviation jobs. The travel got to ge too much, so I'm back working on aircraft.
My avitar is a range inside a DOE nuke facility "somewhere".
I guess I actually should be plane tech or something now.
I've really enjoyed reading all of the posts in this thread. I usually don't go in the lounge much, but I'm glad someone dug this thread up.

+1 for Iggy
I have been a medical examiner and forensic pathologist for 45+ years. Medxam is on my car tag, is my password on most sites and just seemed a natural.
I am now retired from digging out projectiles!

Black Sheep, every family has one. I was sitting at a family reunion trying to figure out who the black sheep was and came to the realization that it was probably me. Since that time it's been my user name on a number of internet forums...
BTW, great story Iggy! It sounds like you've led an interesting life.

LOL, this is a MO thing, according to my wife. I's or U's are interchangeable based on the Governor's pronounciation of the state name as "Missour-uh".
