Default The razor's edge

A book I liked a lot.

They made a movie out of it with Bill Murray that did not convince me.

But now I found the 1946 version with Tyrone Power and gene Tierney. It even won the best movie Oscar and I had never knew about it.

If anyone wish to watch it or maybe rewatch it.

The title of the book, written by W. Somerset Maugham, comes from its epigraph: "The sharp edge of a razor is difficult to pass over; thus the wise say the path to Salvation is hard."

The quote is from a translated verse in the Katha Upanishad.

I like Maughm's short stories a lot, and have read most of them, multiple times over the years, but don't think I have read this novel.

And thanks for the link to the movie.

Got it both translated to Portuguese(bought in my early teens) and in the original English(bought later when my English skills were better).

For some reason I've not read the book nor seen the original film. I did like the Bill Murray film, though. Went to see it in the theater thinking it would be a comedy, I mean it had Bill Murray in it, right? Came away impressed with Murray's serious acting.

Yeah, I probably only enjoyed it because I hadn't read the book. One of these days I'll get around to it. Probably.
