Don't get old and fat!!!

It is all 95% genetic. You can work out all day and only eat wheat germ every day of your life, when your programmed time is up, it is up (i Jim Fixx). You can change that by complete neglect, and there are accidents and murders, but within reasonable parameters you only have the potential to change your expiration and disability date by a few years. You work, then you die. Have some fun on the way.

It's a good thing that I enjoy exercise and good healthy food then.
I already have a disability that nearly put me in an electric scooty chair and if it wasn't for a good healthy diet and regular exercise there's a good chance I wouldn't be here to be typing this right now....

I am glad you are are doing well, and wish you many years of health, were you genetically disposed to that disability?

According to my Neurologist it's an autoimmune disorder but by the time I had a proper diagnosis and the insurance company approved the recommended treatment, it had advanced too far and the treatment was useless.
Fortunately, I actually enjoy exercising and according to my neurologist, physical therapy is the only thing that'll help.
Also, since stress exacerbates my condition, he also recommends relaxing with a good cigar.

I am one pound away from the 170's. I changed my diet and started lifting weights. I do all of my own work on the lawn, shrubs and trees. One pound, can you imagine that?

I am happy for you that you made those good choices.

Don't worry. In about a month it'll make a great coat rack. *s*

Sorry to disappoint.

Bikini body here we come...

Be sure to show pics of your improvement...some of us need the encouragement.

Taking it very serious since October. Lost 18lbs so far, feeling better and stronger. Wife loves it too. Rowing for 4,000m in @ ~16 minutes now.

Also keep buying barbells, curl bar, plates, etc. instead of guns & ammo. I'm getting back in shape, period!

Yes its a fitness thread but I have to ask.....Do you know what type of scope and mount on the Weatherby?

It's a Bausch & Lomb BALvar 8 scope (2.5-8x42), sitting atop a Kuharsky Brothers mount.

Since my first surgery for dialysis in June (install the fistula for hemo, which I hope to never use, but which had to be healed and usable before the peritoneal catheter install), the various steps for screening for transplant and preparing for dialysis have really restricted my activity level (including the ticker test - good pump but I needed stenting which could not be done before being on dialysis). I've lost at least 40% of my strength and most of my cardiovascular conditioning.

I'm cleared to restart and try to get back what I can, but ugh. Even snow shoveling, which I have considered decent exercise, ran through my endurance rather quickly and my arms got sore. Ugh, again.
