Don't get old and fat!!!

I'm about 10 # overweight. I used to exercise daily all winter long, and then ride my bike nightly in the summer. This past winter I never got the gumption to exercise, but I didn't put on any weight either. Some of my acquaintances criticize me for my lack of exercise.

I'll be 72 this year.

Some people call their bathroom the John. I call mine the Jim. So, if anyone asks, I tell them I go to the Jim every day, twice a day. That shuts them up...

Thank y'all for your responses. But in no way I wanted to take away from Snubby's Health thread.

Health and Fitness Thread

I think I rather should have posted in there, perhaps a mod can combine them two?

Snubby is a hero to every one of us that have endured some sort of health set back! I was 54 when I had a stroke, and like Snubby, wouldn't let my failing body stop me.

I have outlived a couple of expiration dates so far, and am hoping to outlive a few more! Since Covid-19 and Ohio's governor shut down all the gym's without attendees to wipe them down, my only exercise has been my bicycle and late winters on one end and early winters on the other end have cut into my riding season, I'm hoping this last snowstorm is the beginning of a beautiful and warm season, so I can get back down to what my doc calls "Way over weight!"

I used to belong to a gym that had Nordic Trac rowing machines. I loved working out 20-30 min every other day. Once a week I would do a 5 KM sprint! I would literally have a puddle under me when I finished! People seemed to like watching my sprints, but soon learned to stand back!

- Depends.

I can only think of one alternative to getting old and I don't like it.

Cryo Chamber?!

Be sure to show pics of your improvement...some of us need the encouragement.

I don't really have "selfies" because I hate them. But here we go.
It's me, with Eddie our headless friend. Just showing off...

Hard to believe I used to dress Eddie with my old clothes... (36" jeans and Large shirts).

Well.... come back by the end of this year and we both might be surprised...

Honestly, you can't mean EVERY French fry!!

When I work out I regret E.V.E.R.Y. single one!!!

I've worked out since college and love it, it surprises me that most people hate it. I live just a few minutes away from my gym, and a little further to my boxing class and about 15 minutes away from the lake where I ride my mountain bike on the trails so I do a mixture of these workouts during the week and I also have a dance class I attend once a week. I'm 62 and slowing down a hair but still hitting it pretty darn hard.

That reminds me of a TV show I saw several years ago, back in the 90s IIRC. I think it was a non-fiction show with FDNY. A firefighter is shown doing bench presses. When he's done, he sits up, lights a cigar, smokes it, then starts eating a slice of pizza (or he eats the pizza then smokes the cigar...not sure which came first).

I noticed my daily trousers were a little snug while trying to tuck in a t-shirt, checked the scales and damn if I haven't gained 5lbs since I retired 9 years ago last Saturday. I should get more exercise but that can wait, I used to walk every other day but that took a tole on my joints, etc. I have a nice recumbent spinner in the basement I should spend some time on and will one day.
