Ruptured triceps tendon, surgery 5 weeks ago: arm difference!!!
As some of you might know, I’m a powerlifter, and I ruptured my left triceps tendon off the bone 4/15/21. Seven days later I underwent surgery to reattach the tendon.
Recovery is slow and painful. But physio therapy is helping.
I never stopped training my legs and the right side of my upper body. I won’t be able to lift heavy with my left arm until 4 months post surgery.
Here’s a picture of the atrophy of my left arm at
37 days post surgery, 44 days post injury.
My legs have gained an inch of muscle, and my right arm maintained about 95 percent of my previous size.
I can find humor in this unfortunate experience.

Man! Just hang in there! You’ll get back to 99% I think.
I think I’m looking at the same surgery.
Except mine hasn’t come from powerlifting, but actually from when I got my 2nd COVID vaccination. The doctors seem to think that the person who gave me my shot, either nicked my tendons, or severed them during the shot.
I find out on the 2nd of June what the MRI detected.

I feel for ya there!
I had the same surgery circa 2012.
That rehab is something else! I had excellent results though.
Best of luck in your recovery!

Glad to hear you had a successful comeback from this.
I'm only 5 weeks post surgery, so I've got a ways to go. Scar is still healing, and the tendon is super stiff. Wearing the DonJoy brace full-time to protect the elbow and tendon.
