Casey and Vicky White ..Unbelievable

I don't think they had any long range plans. Blew through $61K in 10
days and staying in a flea bag motel. Also, who buys a bright orange
escape vehicle?
I first thought they were trying to make their way to Canada, wrong.
When all said and done, just a couple dumb losers.

Not both are losers.

He had nothing to lose. He was out of prison for 10 days, didn't eat prison food, maybe had some booze, and had sex with a woman. Slept in a flea bag motel bed that was probably better than his bunk.

So even when the inevitable happened, he was still ahead of the game. At worst, he got shot and killed, which didn't happen. At best, he'll go back to prison for the rest of his life, which was probably going to happen anyway.

The loser was Vicky White. I guess everything as to why she did what she did is speculation, since she's not going to be answering any questions.

JMHO YMMV

I know of 2 classmates who married teachers.

One was for sure hooked up with him while still a student, I saw them together at a party (at his house no less). Back in the early 80's. That would never fly today.

The other, I don't know. Possible, but no evidence.

BTW both couples are still married.

One of the HS female Gym teachers was approaching her students in the early 70s while saying "Les be friends". No one I knew took her up on it but I don't think her behavior was ever censored.

Have you seen any interviews with her co-workers? While the Sheriff professes his shock that she would ever do such a thing, and praises her as a model employee, they are telling quite another tale. And one is saying that operating conditions at the jail were "chaotic".

We had a female jailer that was messing around with an inmate. She conceived her son in the county jail. Once she started showing and the father of the baby was revealed she was fired. The "baby" is now in his 40's and still lives around here. Baby Momma died as a result of some kind of lung disease. Baby Daddy, who is now in his late 60's, just got out again after doing 18 years on his last sentence. He moved in with his son until his next incarceration.

Here's a WaPo article from this morning
Seems everyone who knew her is shocked.

But
"Police learned later that Casey White was ready for a “shootout,” the sheriff said, characterizing the crash as one that may have saved lives. Authorities said they found guns in the car, including an AR-15." Another report said there were 4 handguns as well.

I was sure from the start that the story would come out this way, although I am somewhat surprised he did not kill her immediately. Anyone who has worked more than a few minutes in the system probably thought more or less the same as I did. As I regularly say: "We don't make a living because decent functional people make good decisions."

Now this would make a great Hollywood blockbuster.
We had teacher/student romances while I was in high school in the 80's. Nothing ever happened when it was exposed.
There was this one teacher in 10th grade English, 4'10", 95 lbs., blonde hair, and would sit on the corner of her desk, legs crossed! OH MY OH MY! :p

Where were these hot teacher's making advances on the students when I was in school.

Isn’t this a repeat of that pair of scum that used a lady prison employee to escape up in New York several years back? A younger person seducing a lonely older person is a story as old as time.

I had the same thought when the news hit the wires. Danemora NY prison.

Except in the former case the chickie guard chickened out at the last minute and didn't go along. She's now in prison.

One of the convicts was captured after being shot, the other died in a gun battle.

I posted this back in December somewhere which is a bit harsher and more tolerant of certain words. I've filtered it and removed the meme that I posted with it. It's more true than most people know, and far more true than truly decent people can understand. Obviously, some of the context of the earlier parts of the conversation would be useful, but that's not mine to post.

"I did CPS cases for over 3 years when I first started here (crudely speaking, 2000-early 2004), along with juvenile offender matters. The overlap in names/family relations, etc. was staggering. I am still the civil advisor to the juvenile department (all offender stuff; the CPS is a state issue usually handled by the AGO) and do mostly criminal justice related civil stuff, so I'm still aware of a lot of stuff going on. Until the Chief Criminal DPA told her minions to cover for each other, I would go do some of the routine hearings for juvenile offender cases. Judges know it means something when the civil nerd is familiar with the offender's name and history.

I've seen ugly (stuff) for years. Some views/lessons:

Fundamentally decent people have no (freaking) idea how bad some of this stuff is.

These are not families. They are conglomerations of hairless bipedal apes with some degree of genetic connection.

Parenting is a social behavior. Gene donation is a collateral consequence of a sport.

"Criminally feral" is a value neutral way of expressing the manner in which we get a lot of the offenders we see. It is possible to make a decent person of some of them, but even as mid-teens it is at least as hard as making a house pet out of a 3 year old barn cat.

We have a duty to the kids to try. We are not assured success. Given how damaged some of them are, a good future is one in which they have a menial job that pays for food, shelter, a bit of beer, and their pot. That does not mean we don't try - but it does reflect that we have a lot more in common with Sisyphus than we want to admit. The reality is that someone has to draw a line and say "no more". If not us, who is going to do it?

Don't measure "success" like winning a game. By any objective measure, we lose way more often. Measure it by your work to DO SOMETHING. Measure it by the times your efforts to make decent witnesses out of CPS workers have succeeded. Measure it by the respect of your opposing counsel. They don't have to agree with you - but if they acknowledge that you are fair and ethical in how you do the dirty work of the job, that's a victory.

Dark humor ain't all bad. Sometimes it's all you have. Mine is awful. Fortunately, I have enough bitter people around me that we share the humor. You have to be some sort of special twisted to think this is funny, but we do: "At least last time I cried in the shower, I'd had some human contact."

Look at the bright side: At least you don't have to represent these people. You are representing society's interest as well as you can. Some of the meanest lawyers I know, with staggering levels of hatred for people, are old public defenders. They have to deal with them up close and personal.

Keep your chin up. We are doing God's Work. Someone has to."

We had them too. They've probably always been there and always will be. We had a typing teacher in high school who was making the rounds. All the guys who had been with her thought they were BMOC until they got together, compared notes, and found out how many were involved with her. Her husband later committed suicide. They're in the churches too no matter what denomination. I went to a large Baptist church when I was a kid. The choir director got caught with a 15 year old fat girl. He was suddenly "called" to another church several states away. I heard he got in trouble over there also.

As others noted above, sometimes a relationship between student and high school teacher works out well. The president of France, Emmanuel Macron, is married to his high school teacher:

...Macron is married to Brigitte Trogneux, 24 years his senior, and his former La Providence High School teacher in Amiens. They met during a theatre workshop that she was giving when he was a 15-year-old student and she was a 39-year-old teacher, but they only became a couple once he was 18. His parents initially attempted to separate the couple by sending him away to Paris to finish the final year of his schooling, as they felt his youth made this relationship inappropriate. However, the couple reunited after Macron graduated, and were married in 2007. She has three children from a previous marriage; he has no children of his own. Trogneux's role in Macron's 2017 presidential campaign has been considered pivotal, with close Macron allies stating that Trogneux assisted Macron with developing skills such as public speaking.

Emmanuel Macron - Wikipedia

Love is a funny thing... Both simple and complicated, and I find in my experience you can never fully understand another couple's relationship.

I like Macron, and think he is doing a good job for his country, and as a leader of Europe.
