Need advise due to a medical condition that will require sleeping with an upper body inclined position. Yes there are foam wedges but prefer not to go that route.

Looking for a split king setup using 2 twin mattresses. There are many options from moderate prices to absurd.

I do realize the choices are many and includes mattress types, foam, gel, and hybrid. Tilt options such as head, torso, legs. Motor drive noise and range of motion. Remote control functions. Warranty on components. Delivery and set up.

So, if you have gone that route I would like to hear your comments or suggestions.

We bought a Sleep Number top of the line with the features you mentioned. It was expensive but worth it as comfort was top priority. We love the firmness setting ability and position adjustability. My wife added the temperature adjustment option (expensive) and we love that because she can set her side temperature on the bed and leave the house thermostat alone so she doesn't freeze me in the summer or cook me during the winter.

Same here, highly recommend the Sleep Number. It is expensive, but we love ours.

We are on our second number king size. The first was lost in the 2016 flood. I like the fact that I can adjust the "hardness" and the angle of the head on my side and the wife can do the same.

I sleep most nights just as you describe in my Lazy-Boy reclining chair. Have had it for years and didn't cost a dime extra. The nights or part of a night I crave sleeping on my side, I'm there next to my wife on a Queen-sized Sleep Number.

We purchased our first adjustable inclining bed about 9 months ago - absolutely love it!! The conventional Beauty Rest mattress works well with it and we selected it because we did not care for the foam type. Yes, I know the conventional mattress will probably not last quite as long as the memory foam type, but for us it's the perfect way to go. I'd rather have 10 years of really great service from it than 15 years and being uncomfortable on something that will last a bit longer.

The remote control works the foot and head as well as many other functions and features. We chose the King Size one-piece mattress rather than the split twin version because even though the overall size is the same, the split is still there and it's still like sleeping on a twin mattress - sort of kills the whole idea of getting a King! For us it's fine and if one of us moves the bed during the night, it's rare the other one actually is aware as we both sleep pretty heavily. GREAT for going to bed after a full meal!

We went with Sleep Geekz Customer Service Phone: 904-906-2917

Sven & Son Platinum Series Adjustable Bed Base + 14" Premium Memory Foam Mattress, Platform Frame Compatible, Lumbar Support, USB Ports, Zero Gravity, Dual Massage, Wireless Remote - Split King

We went with Haverty’s Skye adjustable bed, but mainly because Mrs tlawler worked there at the time and we got a deep discount. I don’t know if it’s better or worse than the others, but we love it. Whichever one you choose, the best way to go is king with the two mattresses and separate bases and controls.

If your condition is related to acid reflux (GERD), get a prescription of omeprazole. The raising the upper body didn't help a bit for me. The omeprazole put an end to the issue.

Be careful with the omeprazole, some stomach's can't tolerate it. The results are constant daily need to have a bowel movement, sometimes 5 to 7 times a day, along with weight loss and lack of energy.

We bought a Serta IComfort about 6 years ago. We can’t sleep without it. Exactly the setup you’re looking for.

We looked at a non split mattress type and I knew we would want different sleeping positions.

Took about 2 weeks to get used to it.

OK, so how much?

I am very interested in this thread, lots of good info but... Folks keep saying the Sleep Number adjustable bed are expensive so how about some numbers? What extra cost features would you pass on if buying again? What would be your idea of the best bang for the buck model? TIA.

As Capt Steve stated, it would be nice to have an out the door, delivered price guide to go by. Many of us here are of the older generation and live on a fixed income. Going to the various web sites prices are listed but I have the feeling they are trying to rope you in hoping you will bite at the high listed price.

You don't really need a prescription for omeprazole. It can be purchased OTC branded as Nexium or Prilosec. My wife has good results with it. But there is a caution about using it daily for more than two weeks straight.

We have been Select Comfort (Sleep Number) users since the 1980s. Put one in our guest room long ago, and my in-laws loved it and ordered one after they stayed with us. FIL ordered the lowest cost version, which had a 2" thinner top cushioning layer than the 4" thick "Pillow Top" they slept on at our house. FIL could sleep on a slab, so he was fine with it. MIL is a more sensitive sleeper and was uncomfortable on it. Based on that experience, I'd suggest a 4" top is the minimum option.
When we bought our beds 35 years ago, the "pillow top" and wireless remote controlled air compressor we got were the only options. The new commercials with all the "Smart" features look interesting, but I accomplish most of those things with extra pillows and blankets.
If I were to get one of those electronics packed smart beds, I'd protect the investment with an uninterruptible power supply (UPS).

Been on it for years. I have Barrett's syndrome from years of acid reflux. Discussed it with my Doc who asked if I preferred to die of weak bones or throat cancer, a common result of acid reflux and Barrett's. She said no firm results were known, just indications from studies.

I've been on it for over 15 years, taken daily, and haven't experienced any side effects whatsoever.
