Budget cell phone plans. Anyone using Twigby?
My gf in WA is grandfathered into a ridiculously cheap pay-as-you-go phone plan but is feeling the need for something better without going whole hog. (When I tell her what I'm paying here, in gun-shy Canuckistan, - about $34 USD equiv. - for unlimited nationwide calls & texts and 1GB of data, she rolls her eyes...) Anyway, she's been doing some online research and found budget plans hosted by Verizon called Twigby (Who names these things?? Sounds like a slightly kinky female butler. ) Another option might be Mint Mobile.

I have had Trac Fone for years, they are now owned by Verizon.
For 200 bucks a year you get unlimited talk and text and 24 g of data.

We have Verizon,,
three phones,, unlimited calling,,
combined data for all three, my daughter uses most
If we get close on data, Verizon texts all three phone,, several times.
We have never paid an excess use fee, and have had the plan about a decade.
(we have been with Verizon since my wife got a "bag phone" for the then brand new '99 Chevy pickup)
Anyways, all that,, including all taxes and fees (or,, the bottom line) is $134 a month.
I have no idea if it is a good or bad price.

I ditched Verizon for Google Fi and have been very happy with the service. I stay connected to my WiFi at home and at work so I use less than 1gig of data between my wife and I.
2 lines and $10 per gig equals a whopping $56 a month.

Have Verizon through Comcast.
Phone service ‘free’, pay $3 a month tax.
Data $12 a Gig a month, you got to buy one,
So $15 a month.

Cricket's $40/month plan (reduced to $35/month with Autopay) has unlimited Talk and Text which includes "Canuckistan" and Mexico, and 10GB/month Data.
One free feature of Cricket's that's been a big help is "WiFi Calling", which will use WiFi instead of the Cellular network for Talk & Text. Improved our call quality at home, and works worldwide wherever we have WiFi. Just requires using these approved phones. Wi-Fi Calling-Capable Phones | Mobile WiFi | Cricket..

"Includes Canuckistan", you say? Her mom lives up here and with her declining health she might be coming up here more frequeltly.
@mick1213: Also a possibility if it's available in WA state.
I'm heading across the line in a few minutes for a visit today so we can discuss this over breakfast at our fav. cafe.

Wife and I have used T-Mobile for about a year now. The tab is about $36/month each, unlimited everything included. I especially like the wireless hotspot feature. It lets me use my laptop anywhere. I used Boost Mobile prior to that. I cannot recommend Boost.

I have the cheapest phone plan I could find from T-mobile. Total cost with taxes and fees is $12.25/month. That gets me 1k minutes of talk and 1k texts per month plus some data but I don't remember how much since I don't use data at all on my phone.
When I signed up for the plan the girl at the counter asked me if I was sure that was enough talk and text and I told her that 1k of each would easily last me all year, probably a couple years.

We have been using Mint Mobil for a couple years now. Pay once a year is $180 + about $20 taxes & get unlimited talk, text & 4 GB data per month. We use very little data. Works for us!

From Cricket: Mexico and Canada Roaming
Mexico and Canada Roaming includes calling/texting in Mexico, Canada and between the U.S., Mexico & Canada. Also includes use of the high-speed data allotment from your plan while traveling in Mexico and Canada.

I use Ting. Base price is $9/mo. I seldom use my phone. Make maybe 1-2 calls a month on it, no data used unless some damn advertiser sends me a message. And I have guitar tuner on it that I use the most. Not a heavy phone user. Very few people have my phone number.

I am in the process of switching my 92 year old father from Verizon at over $70/month to PureTalk at $22. They use ATT towers. That is for unlimited calls and texting and 2.5 GB of data. He is in assisted living and connects to the wifi there.

I'd forgotten all about this...
My gf is still with the same pay-as-you-go plan as it is satisfactory for her needs at the moment. Her mum died last June but even when she was up here in Canada several times and using her cell to call locally, it was still cheaper than if she had been on a regular fuller-featured plan. So it'll do for now. The only slight problem is that she can't block incoming political calls (for which she pays I think .35) as they're covered by 1A (?)

I might be the low ball here. Like some I use my little flip phone very little, but it always works. I have Trac-fone, the plan is 60 minutes per month, which is always more than I use. It costs 19.99 once every 3 months, this comes out to $80 per year. They even gave me a free phone, a little Orbic flip fone, its all I need.

We use Cricket too. It runs on the AT&T network I'm told. We pay $90 for two lines unlimited data, 15GB each mobile hotspot. Mexico and Canada included, cloud storage, plus HBO MAX streaming service which we mostly use on our TVs. We're happy with it.
We should probably downgrade as we no longer need that much hotspot, but it's handy to have. Eh, when I get around to it.

Our cell phone service is from Xfinity and we pay $62 per month (tax incl.) for two lines with unlimited texting, data and voice. The actual service is going over Verizon's lines and equipment, but Xfinity gives us a much better deal because they are our cable and internet provider as well.
Our last provider was T Mobile and in my area we got terrible service and terrible signal. Since they are literally years away from installing new cell sites in our area, we made the switch - now it works as it should.

T Mobile works well here. I'm on their "senior" plan. Three lines for $90 all in. Unlimited talk, text, data. Back when I signed up for my son and I, I had to prove I was at least 55 by showing them ID. Started out with 2 lines for $60. The wife eventually decided to dump her AT&T ($80 for 1 line) and join us, so now 3 lines for $90. I think they've since raised the price by $5/line, but T Mobile never raises your price as long as you keep the same plan.
