Who said, "Beer - it isn't just for breakfast any more"?

I expect some of our members of German ancestry will see this and say, ”Oh ja; natürlich!„

BBC article here.
Known as a "Weißwurstfrühstück", this traditional sausage-pretzel-and-beer-breakfast might be Germany's most "German" meal.

"It was Saturday morning at Gaststätte Großmarkthalle, and it felt like Friday night. The wood-panelled rooms were full of people, dirndl-clad waitresses carried trays of drinks and the volume was slowly rising.

Located in the the south of Munich, this pub pulls in a crowd for a classic Bavarian breakfast: a Weißwurstfrühstück (literally: "white-sausage breakfast"). The meal consists of its namesake white sausages, as well as soft pretzels and sweet mustard – all washed down with a wheat beer..."

Used to belong to the "brat for breakfast club". Back when we had our annual gun show at the school and the soccer team got convinced to start serving brats at 9am. However, they didn't allow beer in the school.

Back in my wild days camping on weekends would have a morning beer or two. I had a cold rainy weekend layover Portland OR had brunch at a bar n grill . Tall draft with steak , eggs and hashbrowns

I remember getting off the train in Switzerland a few years ago, and going to a cafe to get a bite. Several patrons were having beers at 8AM. Seemed like a sensible idea!

There is or was a establishment not far from here that had dancers and sold breakfast.
They named there breakfast buffet legs and eggs. I would assume a fair amount of drinking was going on. :D

I can't speak to the beer but there used to be a place in a neighboriing town that had several kinds of bratwursts. One of my favorites was what they labeled as Weisswurst. It was a white sausage, mildly spiced and I presume was made with veal.

Now out of business, I would have to travel further south into the more heavily German/Czechoslovakian settled part of Texas to find comparable goodies.

I’ve been known to knock back a Guinness or London Pride with breakfast watching the occasional English Premier League match.

My daughter-in-law's dad was a roofer up in Hessen. He wore the traditional leather pants and always had a little feather or Edelweiss in his hat. That thermos on his lunchbox WAS NOT for coffee! The first work break was at 0900. He often had to buy a beer for lunch. By the time my son married in the family, the dad was disabled. He fell off the roof too many times!

When the D-I-L first got settled in the US, people would ask her what was her favorite American Beer? Her response was Natural Light. People were shocked! She explained, that after 12 German beers she felt "Full", but after 12 Natty Lights, she was never full! (My first thought was, after 12 German beers, I would feel COMA! and my blader never could hold that!)

Beer and Sugar Frosted Flakes, breakfast of champions
      !!! Mods: Where is the "BARF!" emoticon when we need one?

THIS (Founder's Breakfast Stout and McCann's Irish Oatmeal) is, if not the "breakfast of champions", a breakfast when serious work awaits outdoors in inclement weather.
