I was a Member, then a Life Member, then a Life Member Emeritus. I think I am now a Gold Star Life Member Emeritus with Oak Leaf Cluster, and still I get mailings asking me to get promoted. Can you ever max out or will they keep finding new membership levels?

I understand The solicitations. You can opt out of mailings by phoning them.

The NRA offers a number of different acknowledgements ( Life Emeritus, Gold Star, Golden eagles, etc...), but their membership levels are as follows:

Member
Life Member
Endowment Member
Patron
Benefactor

IMO - If you're already at life or above and want to do more, it's probably best to donate to the ILA (Institute for Legislative Action).

As the old standard goes

Member
Life (Blue)
Endowment (red)
Patron (green)
Benefactor (white)

I saw a bunch of very aged members walking around the convention last weekend with some sort of Gold Eagle ribbon.

I joined in 1979 and in November went to Life on a 3 year payment plan. I was impressed that they credited me the $1.75 for December. I had a big payoff/bonus at work and paid off my membership in 3 months. The goodies were almost 3 years in getting to me! I don't know how I survived without that cheap pocket knife for over 2 1/2 years!

Every upgrade has a shoulder patch in the colors I listed above. The only patch I ever used is the Benefactor patch. I put it on my shotgun range bag, to tell it from my brother's identical bag!

Some gun stores used to give a 2% life member discount, but now My Senior Citizen 10% discount is much bigger.

A while back now went in for Free Dance Lessons.
Was a come on for buying, of course.
Decided that even if you said, OK Already!
I buy the Lifetime Package!
Next time you went there they would proposition you for more lessons.
Like Lessons in the Afterlife.
Don’t you want to dance in the Hereafter?
NRA Life Member here.

I am a proud Life Benefactor member. PROUD!

I asked the NRA to remove me from any solicitation, especially phone calls.

They honor that without any questions.

Once in a blue moon, I will get an NRA state fundraiser phone fall. I remind that caller that I'm on the no-call list. They always apologize.

I have received some really nice items over the years when I make a donation.

*Tactical windbreaker. Has a built-in holster. One on the nicest jackets that I own. Love it.

*Premium duffle bag. This thing is heavy duty and huge. It has a sliding handle and wheels. Absolutely the finest piece of luggage that I own. Love it too.

*Range bags. They have sent me at least four items. I've lost count. They too are show quality, heavy duty. The finest bags I own.

*They have sent me two knifes. Both I love. Very high quality and practical.

That's just off-the-top-of-my-head. There is probably some other items that I'm leaving out.

My point?

The NRA treats me very well. I didn't request any of these items. When I donate, I don't expect a reward, but they insist. Guess it's a part of their system.

I support the NRA.

That reminds me, I have some things they sent me over the years, although I haven't had so much as a letter in years...I don't think they know where I live...I used to get the Rifleman at the store when I was still there, but haven't seem a copy in years...Maybe I'll try to gather all those freebies together and do a karma of some kind...;)...Ben
