Horrible Freight Portable Air Tank DOA
Horrible Freight Portable Air Tank DOA
Last week bought a 5 gallon Central Pneumatic portable air tank.
Tried to fill it this morning.
Could not build up any tank pressure.
Chuck on end of air hose leaked.
Back to store.
Go refund for the leaky one.
Bought another one of the same tank.
Tried to fill it.
Same problem.
Leaky chuck.
Returned it.
Clerk babbled about RESTOCKING Charge and Disposal Fees.
I pointed out that the two defective units were not MY problem.
I expected and finally got full refund for the second one.
When asked if I wanted to try again.
I said that I would only buy one if an air compressor is set up so that a tank can be tested before buying it.
Horrible Freight now has two defective air tanks.
I suspect more due to manufacturing problems.
I have my money.

There are some OK things from there, and many are not. I look at ebay, and Facebook marketplace for top shelf stuff second hand first.
You can blame all our tool woes on Sears. Because they could not manage a company we have either Harbor Freight or Snap-On. Bottom of the barrel or overpriced top shelf

I have one of the HF air tanks that is probably 15+ yrs old. Still holds air just fine.
Mine has a shut off that prevents filling the tank or leaking of air when closed. It also has a quick connect fitting for the air hose when using the tnk.

Sad to see Sears’ demise. Most of my tools came from there. Only had to return one Craftsman item. Store gave me a replacement without any hassle.

I use some HF stuff. I have a HR compressor at my lake house that has run fine for years. I have 2 HF generators, A 3200W and an 8500W. The 8500 watt once ran my house for 3 days during an ice storm outage. It never missed a beat.
I agree all HF stuff is NOT great.......Some is.

Now go back and re-buy it off the customer returns table for half the price, fix the leak, profit.

I spent the $250 on the Makita MAC700 compressor when Dad's old Craftsman died after about 30 years. 5 star reviews everywhere on it and I REALLY like it. Buy once cry once, and I did not even cry.
