Lamb chops were $6.99 a pound and I bought $30 worth of prime chops.
Put 3 paks of 4 in a zip lok for later use and had fresh Lamb chops tonight.
Let the two dogs chew on a "T-bone" until it was time to reteive them.
The Westie did not want to give his bone up and "We" deceided to let him have it, for a little longerand see what the out come would be.
We generally don't give bones to our dogs but, they do like lamb chop bones, with a light sprinkle of oil & garlic.

Amazing the culinary versatility of the humble chicken.
Well get a couple meals from this spread once finished on the grill.

Yes. Teriyaki is almost pure salt, but it sure does wonders for grilled pork or chicken.

Tonight was our first large family dinner party in our new place. There were 11 of us (all family).
It was a grand time.

My go to receipe except for the can of Pepsi. Will have to try that.
As far as cooking-I use a cast iron dutch oven at 250 for 4-5 hours.

A long and stressful afternoon playing poker at my club. Wife suggested that I make supper. What is in the refrigerator?
3-egg omelet with cheddar, Monterrey Jack, diced bell pepper, tomato, mushrooms, light sprinkle of garlic salt. Split two ways with whole grain toast and homemade chokecherry jelly on the side. Nice glass of chilled Chardonnay.
Then I washed the dishes.
I'm golden for the next couple of days.

A 2.5 lb chuck roast languishing in the freezer gave it's all today.
One envelope of mix with a can of condensed soup and when I poured Pepsi to get the remaining goodness out of the emptied can it was just enough to barely cover the roast. After six hours the beef was falling apart with a lot of rich broth.
Gone before any thought of pictures was possible.
Check the sodium content on the soup and mix, this was very good stuff.

Broiled lamb chops, air fried sweet potato wedges, "Crack slaw" (look up the simple recipe, it's good as a lunch or a side) ears of sweet corn. I'm still full. Joe

Salmon cakes. I don't care for the tail sections so I save them when I buy a whole fillet. Get three and it's Salmon Cake time. I cook the fresh salmon and use it in the recipe instead of canned salmon, and since I don't have any of the liquid, I use beer.

My usual when I do salad, baby spinach with chopped pecans, dried cranberries, diced chicken breast, fiesta blend shredded cheese and Ken's Steakhouse Lite Caesar. Also had a piece of sourdough bread with olive oil to dip in.

Some of my homemade tomato sauce Sicilian (anyone remember the Frugal Gourmet on PBS back in the day) with mild Italian sausage over pasta. Added a couple slices of sourdough bread and olive oil for dipping.

midnight crock pot morning update... added an apple, some honey and a dash of vinegar, then flaked the pork... should be a pretty good dinner.. roasting a squash neither one of us have ever tried.. it looks like a huge tangerine...

Maybe I'm weird but one of my favorite meals is not very glamorous or fancy. It is, in fact, one of the easiest to prepare.
I'm talkin' about LEFTOVERS. Some foods we love so much we intentionally prepare extra so that we will have some left over. We will accumulate a few of these and have them all together.
.....or am I tellin' Noah about the flood?

Bring thrifty we used to collect the varied leftovers from the fridge (not the ones that had grown fur) and go full on smorgasbord.
With the professional eating machines under roof now I have all but removed the word "leftover" from my vocabulary.

I got hungry for baked taters, going to put them on the Traeger. Decided to thaw out some bear steak and am going to fry that up with some red onions and mushrooms, haven't quite decided on a sauce as of yet...could go sorta Stroganoff or Hunters brown.
