CCW instructor mentioned he had two key rings. One with car key, another with house and business so if he got car jacked, they couldn't get into his house. I asked him where he kept the garage door opener. On the visor of course with insurance and registration.

In my wallet is in my car. The registration is nearly a whole page, but at least proof of insurance is on the registration.

I used to have an NRA sticker on all my vehicles and my front door @ home. Was a point of pride for me. Then Vehicles sporting any kind of firearms related stickers on their and homes started getting burgled (is that a word?) in Houston. I don't live in Houston but need to go on occasion. I don't go to Houston except on special occasions but I don't wanna get my vehicle broken into so I removed those decals. And from my home front door. Just for insurance purposes.

"Burgled" is what happens in England. "Burglarized" is the American version.

Bought a couple guns last week at a new store to me. As we were getting the paperwork done, I reached out and took one of the shop's business cards from a rack they had with other gun related company's cards. He told me, "There's stickers there too, if you want one. They're free." I looked him in the eye and told him, "Sorry. Not a sticker kind of guy." He seemed to understand.

Never been one to put stickers of any kind on my vehicles...I think in all my years I've done it once...it was required at the dragstrip, but I did leave it on.

No stickers, no logos, no ballcaps. American flag in one window since 9/11. Otherwise never any advertising.

I've got one sticker on the back door. It reads in English and Spanish "If you come in here uninvited you will be killed". I have alarms and cameras, safes, and guns close by in the house. No stickers on the car and truck of any kind. I open carry on my little farm while doing things around the house. I'm concealed carry everywhere else and don't leave guns in the vehicle. I'm not a threat to you unless you are a threat to me or mine. Leave me alone and you'll be OK.

I carry my registration and insurance information in my wallet. When I drive it's in the car, in my wallet.

Move to California. Burglaries of five million dollar homes are less common there, because in California that's the price of a starter home.

You can find antidotal evidence of criminals breaking into homes and vehicles that show signs of the presence of weapons. BTW, I have a sign by my front door that reads "There will be no warning shot. Ammo is expensive." Well, do you feel lucky?

Don't drink anymore but I'll still rase a glass (of kombucha) to you and my ancestors.

That is a real dilemma....

....for concealed carry. Sometimes you have to leave your gun in a car. If anyone has an inkling there is a gun in it it's almost a guaranteed target. I think that would have something inconspicuous like a paper bag handy, put the gun in the bag before opening the door and locking it in the trunk.
So much is aimed at discouraging concealed carry. Finding work-arounds is vital.

An inconspicuous, quick-to-open-and-close steel lockbox cabled to a seat mount bolt works well if you mostly use one vehicle.

You've missed the point. No one who is not drunk, high, enraged, or mentally ill (all bets are off with these folks) will attempt a robbery of someone likely to be armed; they'll wait unseen until you leave, then burglarize your home, car, or hotel room.
When you're gone is when they'll, "...come and take it."

I don't believe I have missed anything. There is not a scenario I have not considered, whether it's drug crazed lunatics or sly burglars. They take their chances, I take mine. You take your chances being exposed to some smally with an AK. Determining whether my Vietnam veteran bumper sticker or NRA decal is a deterrence to criminals or an invitation to them is neither here nor there to me. I'm not going to waste my precious time worrying about it. I am going to continue to be me, and I'm an old Boy Scout. Be prepared, for anything.

We are all making decisions.
In the modern world, terror group members (.."..smallys?" Really?) with AKs are not primary terror threats; the deadly threats are IEDs in cars or motorcycles, on roadsides, under believers' clothing, or on drones; then come misappropriated or hostile-actor-donated military rockets, missiles, and grenades.
Things change over time.

I was using the vernacular from 1993. Pretty common term then. I was on active duty at the time.

I just saw that my neighbor on the other end of the cul-de-sac had his truck broken into. He has NO stickers, decals, signs or flags. Go figure.

I didn't make myself very clear in my post. Most of the firearms stolen are stolen from vehicles where they were left in them overnight, not while doing business or in places where a firearm was not allowed. If I do have to go in a place like that the gun goes in the gun safe discreetly under the seat with the cable attached to the seat bracket. It may not stop a determined thief but it could slow him down enough to think twice about wasting that much time. No firearm is ever left in a vehicle overnight.

That seems to be the case around these parts.
I’ve seen dozens of videos posted on Nextdoor , of thieves trying door handles, and if the vehicle is locked they move onto the next.
The ones they break glass to get into have cell phones or valuables laying in plain view.
I don’t have stickers of any kind by choice, I like my cars “clean”.

I subscribe to crimemapping.com with a 1 mile radius. That's how I found out about my neighbor. Had a murder about 5 days ago right inside my 1 mile circle.

I'm selling a M&P15 Sport to a good friend at work tomorrow. We decided to go to one of the "Green Safety Zones" on our campus to do a car-to-car transfer, with a check and a printed receipt. I'd rather it be under video, than in a sketchy neighborhood street. And everything is in sealed boxes and locks applied.
