Grocery / Inflation / Bravo Sierra Sale
Today's Kroger ad and prices (12/20/23)
12 pack of Coke or Pepsi
BUY 2 AND GET 3 FREE.
PRICE $8.99
Total cost #17.98
Yesterday's price (12/19/23)

Cost of 5 $19.90
SAVINGS 9.65 %
Math 19.90 - 17.98 = 1.92

That's a lot like the stuff some brands pull when you buy a package of more than one. I priced some deodorant and one pack was $5.23. Right beside it was a two pack of the same deodorant saying, "Big savings on two pack." The two pack was $10.97.

At least it was a saving. I've seen the stunt played various ways to try and fool you that a 12-pack still over $5, when actually it's over $6.

Compared prices on the Family Size box of Cheerios and the Mega Size box at Walmart. Higher cost per ounce with the larger Mega size. They count on people not checking, and only get away with it because they post the required cost per ounce tag in extremely small font next to the product.

You sure the previous price wasn't a sale also? Around here $8.99 is the going rate for a 12 pack.

I am very good at math and "Know" what a six pak of pop should cost,
be it in a 6 pak, 12 pak, cans or bottles.
24 cans of pop for $7 in not a bargin.

The average cost of a 12 pack of pop around here (depending on brand) is $6-$7.
A 30 pack of my favorite barley pop is $22.99

Not a bargain but it is a price I have not seen here for almost a decade.

Funny how their prices always go up when they run a "buy some, get some" promotion.
Here's a screenshot from their weekly ad...
This tasted the same as Diet Dr Pepper and costs $1.25 for a 2 liter bottle. They often run them on sale for $1.
I actually prefer the 2 liter bottles over 12 oz cans. We have a 10 cent bottle deposit here in Michigan and dealing with a bunch of returnables is a royal pain.

Watch those shelf tags, and do the math. I find wrong tags at Walmart all the time where the weight, price per oz., and total price, do not jive.
Not to mention a lot of times smaller sizes are less per oz than larger sizes.

Between $20 and $24 at Costco...
"30 equals 97"...
They're wider sheets too, which is a perfect fit for me!
Beat that!!

Realize that the big grocery stores, like Meijer where I shop, things like soft drinks and liquor are stocked and priced by the vendors and not by the stores. I would think it would be the same at Kroger.

Are you sure it wasn’t also on sale at $3.98 ? Just a different sale price. That seems very low for a 12pk of Coke. Around here the store brands are that price.

I do quite well at Publix with the bogo. 2 six packs of ginger ale at $7.99. Cookies 2 packs for $4. When I see something I use like coffee pods I stock up sometimes saving as much as $40. I know something’s they are more expensive on and I do without. Other things I don’t care I just buy them.

I don't see a scam in this case. You're getting 5cs of Coke or Pepsi for what amounts to $3.59/cs versus yesterdays price of $3.98/cs
Soda doesn't go bad. You save .39¢/cs and that's what I look at. I'm not going to stand there and figure out the savings percent and have that make the decision whether to buy or not. If the price is less and I want the product then it goes in the basket.
Now if you want to discuss the cost of prime rib or meat in general then I expect a significant savings or I'm not buying it.

In this area, name brand pop/soda goes for 4 for $13, and if it's on sale, 4 for $12. Store brand isn't as good, but it is cheaper, always.

It is so often $3.99 that I just think of it as BUY @ $4.

Back when I was in HS the drama club was selling doughnuts for 10 cents each as a fund raiser for props. When it came my turn to set the booth I changed the sign to read: Doughnuts 10 cents each or 2 for 25. We sold more at 2 for 25 than 10 cents each.
