The world’s deadliest cat is deceptively cute. Meet Gaia.
She weighs less than three pounds, she makes you go aww, and she’s one of the best killers on the planet.
Gaia, an 8-month-old black-footed cat, is the newest resident at Utah’s Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City. She’s part of an effort to conserve her at-risk breed — a pint-size powerhouse species whose hunting prowess makes it the world’s deadliest cat...
Adorably big-eyed and smaller than a house cat, black-footed cats are far more successful at hunting than lions. They can jump up to five feet in the air and 6˝ feet in distance; they kill eight to 14 meals per night and can eat 3,000 rodents a year....

They might be deadly to mice, but I would much rather be attacked by this midget wanna-be than this one!!

#2 kind of brings up the question of what is a proper/effective pistol/revolver round and bullet for such a cat? In fact I understand that cougars are becoming quite common close to settled areas of our far west. They are even being sighted in Texas.

Addendum: "I see what I did there." I had been reading a newer WaPo article on how Gaia was doing, which had a link to the earlier one and I posted the wrong one.

Well, since it was a status update, seems legit. Cat videos are the reason for the Internet. That, and the profession Caje was posting tax tips about.

Nowhere in the Rules or TOS does it put a limit on the number of times one can resubmit a thread. It's no different than resurrecting an old thread if it still has merit.
If there were such limits placed on pics and memes I would be exiled to the forum sin bin.

At the risk of repeating myself... Oh, wait... I already did that
But here are some quotes and pics from the "Gaia update" article I thought I was posting above.
In addition to a specially formulated diet, Gaia gets to eat prey she would find in the wild: small and large rodents, rats and chicks...
“All three of the black-footed cats have seemed to really enjoy any of the prey items that are a little bit larger, that they can kind of rip up"...“She seems to enjoy the chicks.”
She appears to enjoy watching zoo visitors...and sometimes stalks them.
Once a week, she gets her favorite thing — a bone.“She really enjoys dragging the bone around and getting a little bit of meat off it”
And she hunts for hidden food — made of an appetizing mixture of ground bone, skeletal muscle and organs — and sharpens her claws on scratching posts...
Comments:
- Bruce Lee, Lawrence Taylor, and the looks of Audrey Hepburn!
- Her nickname is Murder Muffin!
A reader contributed a YouTube video
(And for another adorable wild kitty, I do remember posting something on Pallas cats some time ago.)
