Life Alert- might be a SCAM?
I got a call from some very friendly lady telling me that a "Health Care Provider" had recommended that I get a Life Alert bracelet.
I let her go through her whole spiel, and then asked for the name of the "Health Care Provider" 's name.

My main health related irritation today is robocalls about new Medicare changes. My wife and I are getting a couple of calls each every day. They all start "Hello? Can you hear me?" I always say no and hang up.

It's not a scam in and of itself. This does, however, sound like a rather common flavor of fraud, perpetrated by a third party.

I let my recorder answer the call. Most times they hang up. Once I answered & a mans voice said" Is the lady of the house there? I said she died in 2008" and hung up.

1. Get caller I.D. if you have a landline. If you don't recognize the caller, don't answer. Once you pick up, even if you don't talk, you tell the caller you have a valid phone number which they can then sell to other scammers.
2. Get Nomorobo. If you have a landline from your internet service provider, it likely uses voice over internet protocol (VOIP). If so, you can sign up for Nomorobo, a free service for landlines that identifies robo calls and kills them after one ring.
3. Don't talk to the caller! When they ask, "Can you hear me?", they're trying to get you to say "Yes", which they will record as "proof" that you agreed to buy the $1,000 paper clip dispenser they want to sell you.

I've been thinking I should get Life Alert.
That way if I should happen to get a life, It'll let me know.
