Latest at Sonic Drive In
For those fortunate enough to have a Sonic Drive In close by, the latest fad in our area is hamburger pickles in your Dr. Pepper. It's actually pretty good.

Back in a previous Life,
I knew a Gal who drank Scotch and Dr. Pepper.
Before that, I had a Fraternity Bro whose family owned a Bottling Plant who made Dr. Pepper.
We would drink free Pepper and ask that question-
Where do you get all those Piss Ants?

FWIW, we used to mix Dr. Pepper with Jack Daniels. We called it a "Dr. Jack".
Dr. Pepper and pickles sounds... different.

What if they didn't slice the pickle, and used a nice, crunchy dill alongside of the Dr. Pepper? Maybe with a Reuben or maybe a club, with some chips? Or fries. Fries would work.

Heck, drill a hole longways through the pickle, use it for a straw if you're going to ruin a good Dr. Pepper. That said, I've never tried it, so....then again I've never tried any kind of raw seafood or anything that lived it's life under water...or on dry land...or still yelling at me.

Never tried the Dr. Pickled Pepper thing, don't know if I ever will.......... but I do recall when a fellow at deer camp was putting tomato juice in his beer and I thought he was nuts, until I tried it one time. It's pretty darn good actually, so never say never.........

No Sonic in our immediate local area but not something that I'd rush out to try anyway - LOL. While I shouldn't knock it until trying it, the combo just doesn't sound too appealing to me. Who knows....... kind of like Bacon enhances the taste of almost anything!

I think there's still a Sonic up the Allegheny River at a mall complex that seems to be failing. I may stop if it's still there next trip to Lowes.

Good to know. I don't like pickles, especially not dill pickles, so I'll make sure not to order that.
Besides, at Sonic, I'm ordering a Limeaide.

Scotch and Dr Pepper? Jack Daniels and Dr Pepper?
Cartoon in either Playboy or Penthouse, probably back in the late 70s. The man is at a cocktail party and he is staring at the drink he has just been handed. It is dark and the caption has the hostess telling him, "We ran out of tonic. It's gin and Dr Pepper."

Here in flyover country, we’re bad to shove a dill pickle spear in a can of Stag beer. Called a Rusty Nail . . .

Don’t think I will ever try that! I love dill pickles and Dr. Pepper, just not together. And, unfortunately, I saw an ad on TV where the Sonic Milkshake was half price. That sounds great to me. I drive to Sonic, pull in the lot only to notice NO other vehicles. It was closed with a for sale sign.
Sounds about right, this Sonic was great before COVID. After COVID, they never had their servers that brought your food to your vehicle anymore! Not only that, the only way to order was using their app.
Their cherry limeade, strawberry or lime slushes sure are fantastic on a hot summer day!
Larry

They may ask me to leave Texas for saying this, but I can't think of anything that would make Dr pepper taste worse than it already does.

The best way to drink Dr. Pepper is ice cold out of a 10 oz glass bottle. I don't care for it out of a can or plastic bottle.

We had an A&W by my house where I grew up in Detroit that put pickles in Root Beer and called it a "Mad Dog". It actually was pretty good.
I remember putting the peanuts in my Cokes too. Thanks for the memories.

There's a few Sonics around here. Being that most of us are Yanks they probably don't even sell Dr. Pepper, let alone Dr. Pepper with pickles in it. Just try and find Catfish and Hushpuppies up here. Whenever I head South, that's first up on the menu.
As for odd pickle combinations, a dill pickle smeared with peanut butter is to die for. The best is homemade dills with Adams peanut butter, but now I'm just being a snob!

some call tom./ beer mixed- a BOILERMAKER. was a famous bar in Braddock/ Pa. called CARL's. I knew Carl. he had 36 oz. fishbowls/ draft beer a buck or less/ 5 shots bottom shelf for a $1. we stopped after midnight shift at Homestead USS, there could be 30 at the bar, but he would make us breakfast w/ someone helping at the bar. after drinking some beer. some of us would put the tom. juice in, add 2 or 3 shot glasses into the FISHBOWL, it was a 2 hand lift of the fishboel, always had to find someone take me back to Braddock to get my vehicle so I could get to work for the night shift.

Now that I think about it, this would pair well with a Chik-Fil-A sandwich since they marinate their chicken in pickle juice.
